Air Rifle + U-Caller?

    Hi guys,

Iv just ordered a Ucaller and speaker on eBay, hope to get it at the end of this week.

I have been told that crows and magpies are difficult to lure with the ucaller to an area in which you have already shot (or shot at) with a shotgun, they learn!

but I am making this topic, to question on how effective would the use of an air rifle be in conjunction with the ucaller, the loud call of the caller would nearly completely overcome any sound made by my springer, a Weihrauch HW97K.

so if the crows/magpies, cant hear me...and cant see me (shooting from cover), then will the caller be effective, even for repeated use in the same area?

yes they will learn that the noise of it means danger and fly away when they hear it but give different places a turn and rest places for a while.
there is 2 crow calls on it so that is better chance and they(crows) will even come to magpie call.
i think you would want decoy out in field and maybe a dead rabbit beside it and a fence post beat into the ground for your friend to land on because when i use the caller they fly over your head but ive only shot gun so doesnt matter

yeah, i understand what you mean by the post, or perch for them, but im hoping to use tall trees to act as that, as long as they are in range on the branch and no branches between me and them, I can take them down with the weihrauch.

do the crows (and magpies) actually associate the calling by the ucaller as 'danger' aswell? so using the air rifle has no major benefit, I assumed the noise from a shotgun taking them down while using the ucaller would frighten them away and associate that area as danger and not the ucaller itself. Damn. :o

ah well, i'll see how it goes, iv a few shotguns so i'll be using them without a doubt, i just wanted to see how well an air rifle would work, like I hope to take down a couple of them with the air rifle before they realise there is danger at all, and begin flying away.

if your well camoflaged and dont move and switch the caller off after a while they should land.i thaught it was ordinary rifle and was thinking about backstops
you probaly will get better results with the air rifle as even if you miss they wont hear nothing and should settle down again.with the shotgun the noise from it would scare the others and they will soon become wise
