Sorry if this has been posted already but wondering if anyone has come across this crowd before and done their bike maintenance/repair courses..

    http://www.rothar.ie/index.html

I would be looking for some sort of bike maintenance/ repair course for dummies possibly with a view to building up enough skills to turn a crappy old commuter bike into a fixed gear bike. Thanks

I did the repair your own bike course. I'd say do a course and anything you need to know just ask Gabriel, he's on the ball.

Thanks for that. As a matter of interest are the rest of ye all self taught in bike repairs and just learning from the interweb?

I'm mostly self-taught from the internet/a book (Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance)/practice but it can be very helpful to watch someone who knows what they are doing before you try some jobs yourself. It is reassuring and you are less likely to break something practicing (I have broken a few things while learning although nothing major.)

I did the course with Pete, I think was his name. Very sound and knowledgeable and not at all patronising to a complete n00b like me.

    Rothar is great.
