Hi All,I am new to this forum and was wondering if you could help me, I am thinking of getting rid of my E90 318i (2006) and was wondering what alternative you could reccommend based on the following criteria; I drive less than 6,500 miles a year. I would like to keep the engine size no bigger than 2.0l. I will have a budget of 18,000 EUR. Must have four doors. Also, I have never driven a disel are they worth considering even with the little milage I do per year. I would take into account any saving that could be made on purchasing a diesel vis a vis road tax. Thanks in advance,JD

Doing less than 10000 miles a year a diesel does not make sense, so I would stick to petrol. How about something classy like a A4 1.8T? I'm sure you would get a nice 2007/2008 A4 for that money?

I really don't think you should change...I don't think you'll get anything much better!

I'd probably go for an Alfa 159 either!

For that mileage it would have to be petrol....

He could prolly get one of the newer VAG 2.0TFSI models in that budget and still be 2.0 and below taxwise.

PS: OP, yes petrol for driving and maintenance reasons.

Yeah was thinking that the TFSI is a super engine in all respects!

Unless there is something wrong with the 318i you have now then anything you spend on to avail of cheaper tax or fuel at the pump will take you years to claw back. Keep what you have imo.
