You should be ok - as I had the same thing happen to me with a Wilson 5 iron - Graphite shaft as well - Got it repaired in FOREGOLF as I live close to it ..

I was waiting for a great story about how you took 23 shots to get out of a fairway bunker only to go out of bounds, having to drop it at the far side of the bunker and duff it back into the same bunker again, only this time getting out in 20:pac:

    I am disappoint:(

Oh I've plenty of them :D

I'm gutted though that it was my 7 - like a lot of people that was my favourite club :(

I think we all have them stories - played for the Medal at the weekend - was really looking forward to it... Never have driven as badly in all my life - dcouldnt get it off the tee !!!! and the week before it was great:confused::confused:

    Its a mad game !!!!!!:D:D

Ya me too. First ever medal too and was really looking forward to it as finally felt my game was solid enough to handle stroke.
Ended up topping two drives out in front of me and slicing 2 more OOB - and the week before I was on fairway/first cut of rough with every drive - mad indeed :D

That's a shame. I broke my seven-iron a couple years back. Got it regripped and got the shaft refitted and it's just not the same anymore. It's got a better (newer) grip than all my other irons but it just feels weird. Used to be my fav iron in the bag as well, like the OP said.

When did you get it? Was it faulty or did you lash it off a rock or something?

    Yours etc,

bought it second hand a couple of years ago - the whole set of irons I mean
Despite many episodes of frustration (although usually not with that club to be fair) I always avoid anything that will damage my equipment.

It's funny actually - I was walking back to play a ball from the rough and I put the iron down head first on the ground - ala a walking stick.
I applied only light pressure and boom - it went
Would have been interesting to see if it had lasted another 20 seconds and gone flying during my shot !! :)

A club breaking during a shot is a very strange experience - happened to me years ago - on a par 3 in Ballyheigue I think. Upon impact with the ball you feel something strange and then look up to see the club head flying towards the green and the ball heading to the right. I'd have been better off of the ball had landed where the club-head did.

I had that very experience last week in an open in Castleknock, tee'd off on the fourth and there was a horrible sound and the ball duck hooked behind the mounds on the left, thought it may have been OOB, so I decided to hit a provisional, made a good swing and it felt like a great contact, only to see half of the driver head fly 100 yards up the fairway.

The club literally came apart at the seam... Its a callaway fti lcg, so I have given it to the pro in the Spawell, who is sending it back to callaway for me. I hope they fix it up, as surely clubs shouldnt just explode and break in two.

Funny thing is my round started to turn around when I stopped caring.
I even stopped taking practice swings and just swung and it started to fly again.
There's a lesson there if only I'd care to learn it :D

It is a mad game !!!!:D:D Will attack 9 holes this evening so hopefully I can get things sorted again ...

Well I'm going drinking - an activity that guarantees a good outcome.
Although like my last round its likely to cause trouble sleeping, grumpiness the following day and a general feeling of discontent with the world :D

Happened during an inter-club match last year. Looked for a ruling from GUI officials as to whether club could be replaced during the match. If club broke while executing a shot, the answer was yes. If not (e.g. while leaning on it), the answer was no - as players have a duty of care not to damage their clubs other than while actively playing.
