I bought a ewe and two lambs in the mart last night and this morning i noticed she was rotton with mastitis on one side

when she went threw the ring last night she was annnouned as a sheep with one spin, the sheep is a two year old and i took that as meaning she had one crop of lambs previously. i also noticed one of the lambs following my father this morning so its obvious one of the lambs was getting a bottle

What I want to know is what other sheep farmers view as the term one spin? I would of thought she should of been announed as one teat at the very least

"One Spin" means "1 Teat" or that one half of the udder has been lost to mastitis or another type of disease which means that the ewe will only have milk from 1 side of her udder. Its how its described at any sheep mart that I have ever been at.

Its your mistake. She was declared. You have no comeback - especially since you didn't check her before leaving the mart.

You have comeback up to the point of paying for the animal. Once you pay for your animals, they're yours. That's why its important to check the animals before you pay. However, in the above case, the animal was declared as having only 1 spin so if you bought it, its yours, unless you can find something else wrong with it. :D

Agreed, time spent inspecting animals prior to sale is time well spent

not so , my bro once bought two cows through the mart which were declared as having been calved two wks , my bro rang up cmms a few days later and discovered they were calved four months , he rang up the mart and the seller had to take them back

in our local mart -ardee- there is a sign up that animals are sold as seen, this is due to some of the local go boys buying heifers , switching tags and ringing the previous owners to say that the heifers where in calf when sold, really annoyed me when they did it on a local widow woman , some people have no shame
