Facebook chat: is it possible to appear offline to selected friends?

    Is it possible to appear invisible to some people but not to others?

    From the facebook main page, select account and Edit Friends.
    Select Create List, give it a name (e.g. chat) and select only the people you want to chat with and save.
    Then click on the chat menu at the bottom right of the page.
    Select Friends list and make sure all the options are selected.
    They will now appear in the chat window with a green icon. Select go offline for all groups except for your newly created group.
    Now go back to Select Friends and deselect all the groups except your chat group to unclutter the chat window.
    Now only the people in your new chat list will see when you are online.

    I have my friends divided into groups, before i could 'select all' when inviting them to an event but with the new facebook it seems i have to click individually on each one?? Is there a way to invites a whole group??
