Looking to apply for a job in London but need advice

Having been told earlier in the year that my post is unlikely to be available in September, I have been looking at schools in London. There's one school in particular that I'm interested in and Id say I would have a good chance of getting an interview for it. The only problem is that it says "Start date: September 2011 with earlier training and summer school involvement" - the only problem is that I am going to be away for most of the summer, including doing some voluntary TEFL in China. I've already booked all of my flights etc so I couldn't really do anything in London this summer.

So, I'm looking for advice - would it be a waste of time to apply for the post, given that I can't start in summer, or are schools generally flexible on such issues?

    Thanks

If you're an experienced teacher, then you might not need the earlier training. Typically, NQTs and over-seas teachers would start in the last half term of the year, so they're up to speed for September.
Never hurts to send in an application anyway!
