Ok so if there is something you have always wanted to try but have been to afraid to ask about or wanted more info about well now this is the place. Almost all of us have someone we could ask if we had to but the anonymity on boards could come in handy if it's embarrassing. Mine is a wax. I do it myself at home and would love a professional one but I would be bloody mortofied:o. Any advice? There's alwas going to be someone that has tried what you want so don't be afraid to ask :)

Advice - just do it. What is holding you back? The idea of pain or the idea of having your ladyparts out?

I get one once a month and it's no big deal. Once you've been the first time you realise that the therapists see so many women every day they don't even notice. Also, the pain is not as bad as you'd think and the results are really worth it. You'll never look back. Just go somewhere that has been recommended and that mainly does Brazilians (you are talking about a Brazilian, right - not just your legs?)

I really want to learn to play the cello but the only thing holding me back is a) the money to buy a cello 2) the time and money for cello lessons. One day!

Also, Watna - I have always wanted to play the cello!

I would like to go around with a big black marker and put an "i" in the middle of all the "To Let" signs. Infantile but somehow satisfying.

Haha...yeah! I have to say, when someone defaces a sign like that, it always evokes a smile from me even though I know it's naughty. I still chuckle to myself when I think about how someone removed the final "L" in the sign for "Ireland's first 100 metre Poo(L)" close to Connelly station (you can only see it on the train coming in from the North). Classic.

Funny you mention the cello, watna...
I haven't had formal teacher training in it though.
My poor cello, I need to get back to it again.

Anyway I'm in the waxing boat also but I'm going to rectify that one.
I don't really have anything else to add, I've been on a total "seize the day" kick for the last few months and doing the things I wanted to...

I always liked when people changed Dalkey Dart station to Donkey. Simple, but effective.

Wow - lots of people on a cello buzz. I priced one the other day and cheapest I could find id $1000. Just can't justify it at the moment!

Yes, they are expensive even for the cheap machine made ones and a decent bow is another thousand euro as well. My baby was handmade for me so eh, I won't disclose the value :o

I've wanted to learn to play the sax since I was in school but since they had none in the music department it would have meant buying one and my folks weren't prepared to do that on an instrument I'd never even tried before....

Now I haven't really got the time but every so often I get a hankering to seek out a sax teacher/class and learn to play...

I've also always wanted to get my motorbike license but as I haven't got a motorbike yet, it seems a bit pointless.

I always wanted to play the harp.

I'd love to do a sponsored wing walk, have been thinking about it for a couple of years so hoping to put it into action soon. Be great to do during the summer.

    Skydiving.
My boyfriend does it all the time, as soon as he gets qualified as an instructor I know I'll be dragged up into that plane :o
Probably the kick I need to actually DO it, the thought terrifies me which is what makes me want to.

I want to go skydiving for charity. Checked it out a few times during the past couple of months and the more i think about it the more i want to do it. Im afraid of heights which would make it all the more better for charity. This summer, I want to do it.

Ickle Magoo, if you ever decide to take the plunge, PM me. I have been trying to sell my old saxophone for ages with no luck so I'll let it go cheap to get it out of the house!

I've always wanted to travel the world - as in, do one huge round-the-world trip, but it doesn't look like I'll ever have the money or the time off work. I keep telling myself that doing it in little bursts means I'll remember more of it!

    skydiving for me too.

Nice thread :) I'm going to be thinking of this all day now.

I have always wanted to go up to a taxi driver with one of these bumper stickers: "No Extra's" and say "except that apostrophe, eh mate?"

But that's not something I need advice or guidance on really. I'll probably do it one day :D

I would love to go to an airport, select a random flight, buy a ticket and just go. Buy clothes and everything else when I get there. Jump in a taxi and say "take me to the best hotel in this city".

    Sigh....Lotto-dreams. :o

There is an option of getting it on dvd. I'll be shouting fcuk all the way down from the sky. More than likely I'll be doing it. I am so afraid of heights I'm afraid of the second step of a step ladder but its something I want to do.

I've always wanted to just say, "Fuck this" and leave, go live in another country. Something really dramatic, a big change... but I've never been brave enough.

I must admit I've never understood the reasoning behind doing sky diving for charity. Surely it woould be better to pay for it yourself, and donate the full amount to charity?? But anyway, I digress, skydiving for me is the 'never' section, but maybe someday I'll change my mind, I'd be a nervous wreck tho!

I'd also like to try out waxing but am extremely apprehensive, I'm sick of using Veet tho, soon!!

For a long time I wanted to try out rock climbing, had a go recently but was awful, I really don't have the head for heights!!

Me too. I tried to convince an ex a couple of years back to go on a holiday to SA so we could go shark diving. The wus wouldn't do it. :(

    @Dearg lady
there is an option to do that, as in pay for it yourself and give proceeds to charity. Thats the option i'll be picking. I need to do something mad and exciting and I want to do skydiving. Since Im so afraid of heights I'm going to do it for charity. I'm actually looking forward to it, even though nothing planned yet.

I know someone who did it in Oz, seeing one that close is terrifying but exhilirating apparently, I love sharks so would love to do it as well, seeing one of those things just cruise towards you out of the dark must be an incredible experience.

Not sure how confident I'd be of those rickety cages they put you in! :pac: Something I've always wanted to do. Can imagine the adrenaline rush.

Saw a programme a few years ago and they put them down in a sort of perspex box, so while you couldn't touch the shark it didn't feel like there was a cage between you and them. Amazing.

Always wanted to dye my hair purple. Really vibrant purple. Never got to do it as a teen, and now I'm 26 and self employed where my image needs to be professional...so it's kinda out.:(

Think I might get a little purple clip-in some day though. For parties.

Agh, me too! I saw a girl on the train the other day who had the coolest hair - her fringe and the front bits were bright pink, and the rest purple with a few blue bits. I had total hair envy. One of my friends was trying to convince me to dip-dye the ends purple, she reasoned that I could put my hair up in a bun to hide it while I'm at work. Not 100% convinced I'd be able to hide it effectively - my hair is fine and tends to fall out of upstyles over the course of the day.

(Btw, is your username from Evil Edna the TV set/witch? :D My sister used to call me Mavis the Fairy when I was a toddler because I was chubby and clumsy)

Me too, but green :D. I tried once but my hair is so dark and the dye was temporary that you could only see it for like 3 days, sigh. So much for wasted efforts!

I wanna try like ceramics/pottery stuff but I'm terrified I'd suck horribly at it :pac: I'm so not the artistic type =/

I just did it last Saturday!!! I've never been so happy!! I've been saying it for years, my boyfriend was driven mad because I kept saying I wanted to do something mad with my hair. Finally did it anyway! Bright purple AND got a full fringe in!! Love it!! I even tipped the hairdresser!! -I never tip anyone!!

I'm also nearly 24. I teamed it with kiddy hair clips from Claire's and loads of crazy, colourful earrings! Feck it you live once! Go get it done!!! You can always dye it back!

I want to get a half sleeve done. I really, really want it but I'm so afraid of the negativity it might bring on me from others. I have the design sitting at home for about a year and a half now. I have the colours and placement. I just can't seem to get my act together to actually get it done. :(

Also I think this is the best thread I've came across on Boards. :)

noDice, you are now my personal hero! Well done you:) I'm 27 in month, so could be pushing it tho. Wig/ clip-ins will have to do.

I have always wanted to get my hair braided. My hair is long enough now for it but I can't go more than 3 days without washing my hair or my head turns in a massive dandruff clump - well maybe not that quite bad.

I am going to go ahead with the skydiving for charity. I better lay off the caffeine or I'll have a stroke in the sky.

Again I have 4 big enough pieces now and thinking about getting a sleeve (though I've been thinking about it for over a year). Start with something small where only you can see it if you really want to get one. Though once you start it's hard to stop! I'm an inkaholic now! :D

I've always wanted to do a triathlon. I've done run-swim-run competitions, and I used to swim competitively, but every year I tell myself I'm going to train for the August triathlon in my hometown, and then I don't.

I may have gotten roped into it this year though, in a fit of optimism after cheering a friend on at a marathon.

If you're a good swimmer you've already gotten a great advantage over most people taking part. Go across to the Athletics forum and find a tri that suits you.

I'm crap at tri's but still love doing them, this will be the year I go from the "back of the pack" to "mid-table obscurity", all going to plan!

As far as I'm aware, vertigo/fear of heights doesn't really come into play when skydiving. The fact you are so far above the earth and have no physical connection to the ground (e.g. ladder) negates the phobia. A few friends of mine who have a mjor fear of heights had no problems when skydiving. It was maybe replaced by a fear of being splattered all over a field in Offaly, but I think that affects everyone to some extent.

I have never run a marathon, but really want to get around to it some day.
