With all the talk about minimum pay and lower income, can anyone tell me up to what point is one considered to be in the "lower" bracket?

    Hi King Kenny,

Can you clarify whether you mean you are a lower paid worker or in the lower bracket for income tax?

Hi Ssbob, it actually isn't about myself at all. Just heard a heated discussion in the local and fellas were debating whether a €40k gross salary comes into the "lower paid" bracket or not. It made me wonder if there is a general figure below which politicians consider is "lower paid".

The "average" is something between 33 and 36k so 40k is definitely not "low".

Thanks DubTony. There were guys on 48k who reckoned they were "low paid". I don't mean low paid for whatever their job roles and responsibilities are, but more in terms of gross pay/ being able to pay your utility bills/ living!. So would we say that below 30k is technically "low pay"?

I think below €30k is considered low pay in this economy because in the public sector the unions consider anythin under €35k to be low pay.
