Lob wedge

Buying a new lob wedge. My current one has 4 degrees of loft. The guy in the shop said 8 degrees would be easier(on half shots I can hit it fat). Is this correct?
Also is it just as important to get lie angles etc adjusted on lob wedges as on the other clubs. I am keen to just buy one off the shelf as 2 week wait to get one custom fit.
Looking at cleveland x series- jaws. Any opinions?

Didn't know you could get lob wedges with so little loft, but there you go, I suppose you learn something new everyday.

I reckon OP means "bounce" instead of "loft"

Well done smart arse. OP you mean bounce not loft.
More bounce means it wont dig into the ground as much (useful on soft ground like we have here and also out of bunkers) however it also means that on harder, bare lies hitting it a little fat will cause you to blade the arse off the ball. You also probably wont be able to open the face without ending up with too much bounce (unless its got a grind on it and even then its debatable...)

Mine has around 4 aswell and I have a sandwedge with 8. I much prefer using the LW and rarely use the SW at all to be honest.
LW is 58, SW is 54.

Greebo's selection of more bounce on the SW (for the bunker shots where you need bounce), and less on the lob would be a more normal approach I would have thought. I also have 8 on the SW and 4 on the LW, but each to their own I suppose.

In my view the OP needs to say where he is thinking of using the club.
If it's mostly in rough or semi rough or bunkers then 8 bounce is perfect.
If it's from around the green on the tight lies then a lower bounce should be better.
4 bounce from sand/rough is, in my view, overkill.

    Yours etc,
    GSH.
