Sagna and Cole both had a poor season IMO. Think Baines or Enrique have been the best LB. Rafael been the best RB.

Cole had a good season, nothing special though Baines probably more deserving. He was much better last season and wasn't in it though.

    Cole? Ah, here.

As much as i am a fan of Sagna, he hasn't been that great for a year now or even when his brother passed on.

Can't think of any other RB who stood out. He is first choice RB with the champions elect!!

How many games has Rafael played in the league this season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,920 ✭✭✭The Floyd p

Flanagan should have gotten it :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭SK1979

In all fairness, Stephen Carr should of been the RB on this team.

He has been average at best to be honest. I've only seen him perform well in a handful of games and one of those was the Carling Cup final.

15 in the league so far.

Fair enough, I'm not going to pretend to have seen all of Brums games, but whenever I have, he's always been rock solid. Its probably the one position where I dont think there's been any stand out performer. I dont agree with Sagna anyway, he's a pale comparison of the player he was 2 years + ago.

Premier League Top 6 team of the year.

    No Parker?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,077 ✭✭✭✭eh i dunno

Baines with 11 assists and 4 goals not in the team? A joke

    No Parker?

Or Nolan, or Barton, or Carroll.

on a serious note where is charlie adam

Sagna's form has dipped a bit recently but he was terrific in the first half of the season, which drives the voting I believe.

Not when you're essentially a penalty taker. I'm not denying that he's not got talent but I just don't think he warrants a place in the team to be honest.

Based on the season that he has had yes he does. He's probably been the most consistant performer in the PL this year. He's just being overlooked due to being at a lesser club. Not 1 player in the PFA team of the year is outside the top5 clubs.

Also he's not 'essentially a penalty taker'. If he was I doubt Liverpool would have made a move for him in the transfer window.

Ivanovic should be in that team, Chelsea's most outstanding defender this season imo. Possibly should be there at right back although he has spent a good bit of time at centre-back with injuries.

Baines should be there ahead of Ashley Cole.
The sickest thing to see though is to see Wilshere in there ahead of Scott Parker and Charlie Adam.

The lad can whip in balls and has tremendous talent but I'm being biased here and I'd have Nolan miles ahead of him.

But anyway, the entire PFA thing is a joke and thus should be treated as such.

is this the official one? how can joe harte be nominated for player of the year, and not make the team of the year? that does not make sense to me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭AgileMyth

    Rafael been the best RB.
Not a chance. Hes potentially a decent right back. Needs to learn how to defend though.
Hes not even the best right back at Manchester United.

Other than that I wouldnt argue too much, Barton, Parker or Adam all with resonable shouts for Wilshere's position.... Cant believe Cole and Sagna made it in, would have put my house on Baines being there... He's been outstanding! I find the midfield amazing though, cause bar Nani none of them have been consistently playing at their peak IMO.

Nominated for young player of the year.

You honestly think he has been better than Van der Sar?

ah right, that makes more sense, i obviously read it wrong

and no i didnt think he was better than VDS, i just read the list of player of the year nominees wrong.

in fairness, there is nothing the pfa list could have done to surprise me, well, unless it was on the money, that would have been surprising.

Scott Parker is the main ommision there for me and would prob have put in Phil Bardsley instead of Sagna.

I probably would have had Foster or Hart ahead of VDS and Baines ahead of Cole. RB is a tough one as no one excelled in it, seems a bit of a cop out to just give it to someone in the Top 4. Wilshere deserves to be in their ahead of Parker and Adam, he has had a better season than them.

Wilshere has been nowhere near as good as parker this season. Parker has been brilliant in a poor west ham side and without him they would already be down. Wilshere has a good future but barca games aside he has yet to play well on a regular basis.

I'd just like to say it's good that there are players from lots of different teams in there this year. Too often it's overly dominated by the one or two teams at the top. It probably reflects the tightening up of the league this season.

Bardsley actually a good shout imo.

    hasn't he mainly played LB?

Baines and Adam should be in instead of Cole and Nasri. Baines has been the left-back easily this year and Nasri has been out of form since he came back from injury. Sagna hasnt been great but then again there has been no outstanding RB in the league. Ivanovic is probably the best though. Hart has a good case for GK too.

Forgot about Parker, yes he should be in there instead of Wilshere.

Yeah he has been playing left back for a good bit of the season though he is a right back normally. We are having a terrible period but he is the one constant decent performer all season. Has worked his way into the team this season from a position where he was meant to be on his way in the summer.
