I have a holiday coming up to australia in 3 months , im going over to see my brother and I would really like to shed as much of this excess weight as I possibly can, im 21.5 stone so i have alot of weight to lose , I have heard the most one can lose a week is 2lbs so if I lost that in 3 months I would still be 20 stone,I am hoping to lose 3 or 4 stone in that timeframe and im prepared to cut out all the junk and drink and start exercising so I can reach my goals, do you think this is possible?

If you're really overweight, the weight will probably drop off without too much difficulty, and possibly at a rate higher than 2 lbs a week (nothing too extreme though).

I'm not sure whether it's unhealthy as such to lose weight at a faster rate, but it isn't sustainable! You can lose 2lbs a week without being hungry, and without spending hours exercising! It's all about changing what you are eating now, as opposed to taking anything away (e.g. cutting a whole meal out), and reducing portion sizes.

I was your weight when I started to lose weight. I found the first few weeks I lost a huge amount, sometimes then it would even off even if I increased cardio intensity, decreased calories etc. It really just depends but 2lbs a week for 3 months is going to make you look completely different so dont give up on it. If you have the mentality of needing to lose more you will be constantly be disapointed and you may just say screw it and stop your diet.

You can lose weight at a faster rate if you are very overweight, unfortunatly the very first second you revert back to your old habits ie the way you ate before you undertook a crash diet the pounds will literally fly back on - take if from someone who knows!!
I know this from experience - a few years ago I went on a very restrictive diet, because i was going on holidays and lo and behold by the end of the second week on holidays the clothes I had brought with me did not fit!!!!
The best way to lose is unfortunatly the slow wayand involves re-educating yourself regarding your intake of food for your own needs.
I am on my own weightloss path at the mo and am finding the slow approach sustainable, enjoyable and actually interesting.
There are some very knowledgable people on the forums here - I stongly advise reading them.

    by the way enjoy oz!!
