New customers as usual get a better deal, but existing customers also make a good saving.don't forget to read the t&c's!

    http://www.sky.com/ireland/boxes/sky-hd-box/

further savings of up to Euro 165 can be found at this link posted by Eonite,
their are some complaining about not having received the Sky Cheque yet, but as both are legally accountable, and fatcheese.ie have an excellant reputation check it out!

*may'be more suited to the Satellite forum, but so many UPC customers are so ticked off at their TV service ,i thought this might be the best place?*

Have to join or upgrade Sky online before the 26th of April.

DO NOT BE SUCKED IN by paying for TV that is FREE,

for approx €200 you can buy all the TV you need to watch TV FOR EVER,

YOU DO NOT NEED sky or upc to see RTE or the UK channels

all YOU ARE PAYING FOR IS FOOTBALL ( association )

& PROPAGANDA FROM SKY NEWS etc,

YOU PAY FOR A TV LICENCE SO YOUR 'GOVERMENT' HAS A MEANS OF SENDING THEIR MESSAGE INTO YOUR FACE,

save even more by not watching TV & use the internet to your advantage,

if nobody watches TV & we all use the internet for entertainment the advertisments & taxes will follow us,

wake up & beware of savings!!

Wait don't I have to pay for an internet connection? Which pays for no content, it just goes to the service provider's profits which go to some Multinational, just so I can have some blogger go on a RANT WITH CAPS!

There are plenty of options open to people.

    1. FTA Terrestial TV (Saorview)
    2. FTA Spillover Terrestial TV (Freeview)
    3. FTA Satellite
    4. The Interweb (Though you do have to pay for connection)
    5. Various combinations of all of the above

BTW we all pay for advertising at some stage.

Why should people beware of savings?

This is cheaper than an install of freesat. Can these boxes be used to get freesat channels once the contract is up with sky?

I read though these new boxes (since last firmware) don't allow freesat mode once card is removed in Ireland. I have an old box at the mo and it works fine.

Correct. You have to use tune them in using the "other channels" feature, which is a pain.

Thanks JDXtra. Do you know if it still works with a freesat from sky card? If I thought I could revert back to freesat after a year I would get this for my parents as it seems cheaper than getting someone to install a freesat system.

The more expensive extra rooms the call out charges and the other channels mess is what turns me off Sky.

However UPC has lost 7 channels with the hole in the EPG not being filled.

Unless UPC start getting things right I may go back to Sky.

Youtube has lots of videos of how to connect boxes to sky dishes.Once the dish is up and has spare connections on the lnb it's 90% of the job done-just run the cables from the dish to wherever you want and hook up the boxes.
