What mounts do i need?

need help picking mounts for a cz 452 17hmr
have not bought the scope yet but am fairly sure it will be a bushnell banner
really dont know what mounts to get, i understand that they must have a tube diameter equal to that of the scope but if the gun has a dovetail of 3/8 inch do the mounts have to be exact to that or will all mounts just tighten to that size? also if scope has 40mm object lens what height should the mounts be?

40mm will take the lowest Dovetail mounts you can get.

I'd personally go at least 50mm Obj. Lens.

If you get the tube size eg 1" (25.4mm) ; 30mm are normally the realm of the upper end scopes (my fav)

Your Bushnell As far as I remember is 1" tube size.
