    Ginos is best for restaurant

Dominos for me. They seem to be the only ones who have meatballs as a topping.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 602 ✭✭✭savic04

well really depends on what you have on a pizza as to where is best i suppose

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,622 ✭✭✭lassykk

Don't think anywhere comes close to Coney Islands meat supreme for me.

Also during the week you can get a student special for a fiver. pizza and chips for a fiver is pretty good to me.

    I swear I'm not shilling ;-)

Dominoes all day long for me. Their Garlic Bread and Mighty Meaty is a makes it's way into my place once every few weeks.

While on the beer though can't beat a tacco pizza from apache. They only cost like €4.

Sopranos is probably my favourite, followed by Ginos, Coney Island.

Dominos and Apache taste very much of the same tbh. Just a tad to greasy for me, so I don't eat there as much.

Anyone else think pizzas are way overpriced in this country.

    Definitely.

Like most Italian food we eat here its supposed to be cheap food for peasants. Basically a pizza is bread, cheese and tomato sauce.

Also I think Irish pizzas have too much on top (which can explain part of the cost).

Does anywhere do a nice thin pizza, where half of the topping doesn't fall off when you eat it because the pizza is overcrowded???

La Taverna, so thin he gives you a scissors to cut it

Can you get takeaway from here, or is it sit-down only?

Yeah one thing I hate about most pizzas is that there's way too much on top, especially when it's too much cheese. As said above La Taverna do a very thin, crisp base, a light layer of cheese and tomato sauce, and the ham they use is also very thin strips, instead of the big thick chunks you see on most pizzas.

I'd say La Taverna do the best pizzas in town but I haven't tried a lot of places, but I doubt there would be anything as tasty as La Taverna's. Used to be €7 for half a 12 inch, but they actually upped it to €7.50 recently. The full 12 inch would be just double that. I don't think they do delivery.

Love meatballs on the dominos. Always get 2 toppings of meatballs. Wonder would they give me a bucket of meatballs if I asked.

I suppose this thread should be two questions ,
Who does the biggest mother of a piazza in town.
Who does the best tasting 'less is more' piazza in town
and can I have a bucket pls, ;-)

Yeah I always order online and you have an options to get either one or two lots of each topping.

got the guinness pizza in la taverna recently. Now i travel alot to venice(while eating alot of pizza) and I have to say it was one of the nicest pizza's i have ever tasted, most definitely in ireland and battling it out with the best in Italy.
    It was that good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 340 ✭✭dermo909

There's two types of pizza in Ireland: Thick stodgy base franchise pizza and the thin base traditional Italian. Best pizza of the first type would be Chicago town from the freezers in Tesco ;)

Best thin base is from Emilianos on High St. La Taverna is good but the selection is'nt as good. Both of those places have high prices when compared to Sopranos. Sopranos wins for value and Emilianos for best tasting :)

Think I must be the only one that likes a doughy pizza. I'm not overly a fan of the thin ones.

Rather the doughy ones meself. The thin sopranos ones are nice though in fairness.

    Espresso does nice pizza's too.

Does anyone know if La Taverna do takeaways?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭STIG83

I used to like them Goodfellas frozen ones, have gone completely off them now, so bland and tastleless.
