    in 99% of cases it would be cheaper to sell the petrol car and buy a diesel.

    you would need to switch so many things, never mind the engine and box, but wiring loom, fuel lines, fuel pump, possibly some suspension components, a pretty big list.

    factor in the cost of all this, you would have to make a massive saving on diesel to ever make it worthwhile, which it just wouldn't be.
