Just got a letter from the Social welfare, telling me my JSB will be coming to an end...i can not under stand why so soon, as i was made redundant in Jan this yr and last year i worked from Jan 9th to July 8th 2010 on a week on week off basis returning to full time work from July 9th to Jan 3rd this yr and then made redundant on the 19th of Jan.....i thought i would be on benefit for another while yet....I have not received my redundancy packages as it is been dealt with by the liqidators at the moment...but i am wondering if i am better off now applying for JSA.....this is all new to me as i was employed by the company for 24years...

it could be that you didn't have enough credits paid in the "relevant tax year", which was 2 years ago.
when you apply for JSA there's a box to tick for any pending payments like the redundancy package in your case.
i'm guessing they will pay you the JSA until the redundancy comes through and you may then have to pay it back later from the redundancy.
or alternatively you may have to go to your CWO to claim supplementary welfare allowance. or possibly both because it can take ages to get a decision on the JSA.

you should ignore that previous post, its completely inaccurate.

What happened between Jan 3rd and Jan 19th?

JSB claims link within 6 months so if you signed back on before January 9th, your total days claimed is added together with the claim from 2010.
