Going through the motions now. Some points of interest so far:

Liam O'Neill officially endorsed as President-elect and will take up position next Easter.

Semi-finals in the National Football and Hurling Leagues will return.

The issue of wearing gumshields in football games has been deferred for a year while they carry out more assessments, but still aim to have them introduced by 2013.

The role of Youth Officer has been changed to Childrens Officer and will be a nominated rather than elected position.

County PRO's will not be called Communication Officers. That was a Cork motion but failed to get the 2/3rds.

Still more to come throughout the afternoon I imagine.

The rest of the main decisions...

The training ban for November and December stays.

Match bans rather than week bans to be trialled in next years NHL and NFL.

ALL senior Championship games to be decided by replay (this one will cause chaos)

A motion to allow beaten provincial finalists a 13 day break after the final was defeated (just)

Congress is a waste of time in its current format.

    There needs to be
    • a reduction in the number of delegates
    • a record of all voting kept i.e. each club will receive a record of how their county delegates voted
    • more club interaction - I believe clubs give congress nothing more than lip service and its ultimately clubs that gain/suffer from rule changes
    • a change of delegates in that delegates can only stay for a maximum of five years or less.
also there needs to a complete re-write of current rules. the current system suits those who use/abuse the system and in the large are not understood by general club members

Not surprised about that one - the ladies had the same motion into congress and was defeated

Happy about the children's officer one - very important to get the right people in that role at national and club level
