Simple as that, just looking for somewhere that I can register a domain (myname.eu) that will give me some limited hosting for free, basically all I want is a frontpage and email (to be honest ALL I want is a really nice personalised email address :D )

    Any recommendations?

Thanks, Blacknight are cheap for domain registration but it looks like I'd be paying €4.95 a month for email hosting which is way too much, unless I've picked it up wrong??

Register a domain name and use Google apps

EDIT: After posting this, I decided to try it on a domain I have. Easy enough to set up. I can't send mail yet though. My "domain administrator needs to verify ownership of the domain with which you have signed up".

That's very interesting, please let me know how you get on.

You may have to change the MX records of your domain. This can be done using the Control Panel (or equivalent) with the company where you bought your domain.

Hi I've been using 50webs.com lately and find them reliable. You can use your existing domain on a free account or buy a domain from them and use it with their free account -up to 100 mailboxes allowed.

What exactly is a reliable domain?

When you buy a domain off Blacknight, you get free email.

You were looking at enterprise email hosting for €4.95 a month!

Nah, unfortunately you don't, I emailed their support for confirmation and they said I would need the €4.95 a month package.

    Domain was the wrong term..

.. presume the OP meant reliable hosting.

For me, one with at least 97% uptime.

Jebus - 97% uptime? You're living in the year 2000!

    Meh, maybe..

I don't trust printed uptimes to be honest.. 3ix.org state their uptime is 99.97%. Probably 4 out of the 10 times I try to access my site (using FTP / otherwise) and it's unresponsive.

But I don't mind a company with less than stellar uptime.. as long as they're cheap.

3ix.org would certainly be one of the least reliable hosting companies on the web, but they are €22 a year for domain and hosting (with 2 databases, 50 e-mail addresses, free privacy protection etc.).

Avoid Backnight is a trap for visitors to use them web site for at least a year

Blacknight are NOT a trap. They are Ireland's largest hosting provider and a pleasure to deal with.

They go out of their way to help clients all the time.

Your first post and you are criticising Blacknight....For some reason I think you may be a competitor to them or know nothing about Hosting.

I tried to give it a chance, but things like this are why we can't have nice things.
