Elevation gain

Novice runner here, trying to train for my first half-marathon. I was wondering about elevation gain, and how much can I expect in a race. Of course every race is different, but what is considered difficult over the course of 10km, or 22, for example.

Best thing to do is to go visit the prospective race website and see if they have a mapmyrun page with elevation profile. Otherwise there's a handy collection of races with Garmin Connect links and profiles here.

If you know the race route, you can map it yourself in mapmyrun.
