Selling a Prize

Girlfriends' folks won an Avensis but they don't need it so looking to sell. They've never sold a car, always traded in, so they asked me to help them.

    Any ideas on best approach?

They haven't received the car yet, it has to be ordered so choice of colour will be for whoever buys it. It's coming with 1 yr road tax and the garage have said they can arrange scrappage on it.

Any idea how that works? Would the garage pass on the government cheque or are they expecting to keep it.;)

Also RRP is 25k so I was thinking they could expect about 22k:confused:

Nobody is gonna give them 22k when they can get it from the dealer for just a few hundred more :)

    20k is more realistic...

Very few dealers are getting actual RRP I would say, so Unkels valuation is fairly realistic.
Stick it up on Adverts, Dondeal and the usual suspects and gauge interest?

The only advantage I can see from paying more from a dealer for this car is that if a potential buyer has to finance the car the bank will insist that it is bought from a registered dealer rather than a private individual.

The only other thing is that some folk will be willing to pay a little more for the comfort of buying from a dealer. Other than that it is a brand new car with a 3 year warranty from Toyota irrespective of where it is bought. At 20k I could see a few dealers being interested in buying it. :)

Have it up on Carzone, see what happens I guess.

A diesel Avensis, don't think I could imagine anything as boring but surely someone out there will see it as a bargain.

Im sure some dealer will buy it and make a bit of a profit off it.

I dunno... people seem to love diesel A4's and they're just as boring!
