No time to look at a map when you're biting your handlebars :)

Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3
Stage 4

They look about right apart from the first one starting in Blessington.

Do the A3's get a start on this any of the days with the big field? If so what sort of gap?

Correct - It's all in together A2 & A3. Don't worry though it splits up pretty quickly after Hacketstown. :D

I was hearing last night about one young lad (triathlete I think) doing the Gorey as his first open race.

Enjoy it!

chuckle

I assume thats not Kevin Keane your on about. He's down to race for Belpark but I doubt it's his first open race. There'll be no chuckling if it is Kevin Keane your on about though.

slightly off topic but did Ballinrobe 2 day give a start to the lower levels last year and they then stayed away for the day?

Ballinrobe was handicapped. Dunno what happened after that but Damian Shaw who was A4 then, did some major damage there. AFAIK think he took all the jerseys.

What the story with the elbows in the finish pictures? Looked like a very near catastrophe if one of them fell, there would have been some pile up. Luckily there wasn't

Me too! Day 1 wasn't a great day for boardsies. A few hit the deck, one twice, first in the neutralized roll out from Blessington  all he needed was a low speed fall in stage 2 to complete the road rash sleeve. Met him in the pub that night and he was in good spirits. Looking forward to the full report. Was chatting to shaungil when the speed abated a little on stage 1 and we nearly ran over another crash which I think involved another boardie (Orwell kit). Thought it was Diarmuid at first. The Swords lads rode well. Stuck together in the bunch and looked after each other.
A pleasant few days in the countryside all told and a great finish for Lucan.

Love it. Savage race. Felt pretty good over the 3 days. Didn't hit the deck but mostly stayed at the front out of trouble. Lots of strong riders in the pack made it very hard to get any sort of a result, fair play to anyone who did!
Hats off to aidan.offbeat who hit the deck twice on the first day and still finished all the stages. And also to Martin Mizgajski who won stage 3 with only the small chain ring. Legends. And to the winners of the 4 jerseys, congrats!

Great finish yesterday. I have a video of it on the phone I can send on to anyone if they like. Just excuse the woeful shaky camera work. Its short (less than a min) and pretty much just covers the main finish.

Day1 all fine till got caught in crash about 60 km someone into back of me and knocked open skewer on back wheel, didbn't notice till someone shouted at me that my wheel was about to fall off after I burst myself to get on group. Off bike changed wheel but was slow chased up secongKOH but couldn't get back on, 30 km TT on my own hammerfest but absolutely dying, lost 10 mins and sheer agony getting sick in mouth the whole shebang. Totaaly p8ssed off.

Rolled TT then was flying on second day felt great attacked a few times flew up the hill each time could have done another 4 laps no problem.

Day 3 within 1km got the shakes and sweats nearly out the back twice in first 5km. Hung on till Baltinglass when I started comiong good but we had a lad up the road so was delighted to do nothing. Rolled home in buch as was to far back.

Need to be doing longer harder training for these type of races and it's hard for me to do that. Great fun and good weekend away with the cycling lads delighted I did it. Would I go again I don't know probably if we had a good crew going as it's good to have familiar wheels in teh bunch and have the fun in the B&B.

Bunch was fairly nervy and jumpy too so much prefer my usual style of hamerfest of the front, I still have the smell of brake blocks in my nostrils.

It's the first race where i have seen a bit of bullying and someone actually tried to push one of my team mates off his bike , i was sitting right behind it in the last 20km of stage 4 and could'nt believe my eyes. In the first 10 riders so if he had went down it would have been very dangerous. W@#KER

Re pushing did you complain to the Commisaire? There was one DQ on day 1 for dangerous riding. WAs it in the sprint or early on?

No Shaun it was about 20km from the finish and we didn't complain . it was an attempt at intimidating the rider not just a shove out of the way. Plus i don't think the organisers would have listened to a complaint about a man wearing this jersey.
