hey just wanted to throw one out there to see what people think - I am a qualified beauty therapist and i have been made redundant from my office job I am moving home to the west of Ireland and I am in two minds about setting up a salon with a treatment room from home and doing mobile therapy on my own or taking over a salon thats for sale ekkkk any advice would be really appreciated if anyone has any thoughts about an at home salon id really appreciate it - if i have the at home salon i can charge cheaper prices but id would mean my partner would have to put up with clients in our home and it means I would prob never leave the place lol :) any comments/guidance/advice on whether ye think one or the other is a good idea would be appreciated :):D

Are you in a rural or urban area out of intrest?

Personally I would much rather got to a salon than someones home. For me going to the salon is a treat, and I would rather pay the bit extra to have nice luxurious surrounding that be in someone's living room.

However, I have recently started using mobile therapists that will come to my house for getting a spray tan done. Its a great service, and one I think is becoming more popular. There are very few beauty therapists in Dublin that have a professorial mobile therapy services with a decent website etc. Could really be an opening there I think?

Hey ya thanks a million for the reply - out in a town in the west of Ireland the treatment room at home is really professional has a bed - salon colours etc I've done it to a salon spec but I suppose that's my fear that people will be akward about coming to a home salon even though I can charge 20 per cent less than local salons - I'm mobile as well so yeah def think there is an opening there my bed & equipment etc are all mobile so can do the works in someone elses house ;) thanks for the reply good food for thought - any other thoughts would really be appreciated ;) thanks n

My Sister does mobile work and does really well, she built up a client list over time and goes to their houses rather than them coming to her. I say try the home/mobile work for a while and see how you go, you can always buy a salon in the future!
