Good Value Billpay deal from O2

O2 have announced a new (I think) billpay deal:

It's called O2 Clear 250, and gives 500 mins and 500 texts per month for €35 for 18 month contract. See www.o2.ie

This looks good to me. I am with Vodafone and seriously thinking of switching. Anyone have any opinions on this?

    No data included?

Hmmm. Dont think that's for me.

I was on that option but as most of my family and friends are with O2 I have gone "pay as you go" as its an even better option for me. I think the 18 month contract is too long to be tied just in case I want to cancel it.

The pay as you go option is called "Experience Plus"
Top up by €20 every 30 days and get free O2 to O2 calls and texts and still have the €20 for any other calls/texts.

This plan is for new customers only. Hate the way they do nothing for existing customers.

I got a cold call from O2 on Monday asking me if I'd be interested in signing up to a new 18 month contract for a lower priced plan that would save me a whole €10 a month, while cutting my talktime, texts and data allowances in half:rolleyes:. I was expecting this call tbh as I'm out of contract and there's a new iphone coming soon and so I'll be upgrading from my existing phone. If I was dumb enough to sign up to this 18 month contract, then I'd have to stick with O2.

Btw, I thought cold calling was not allowed? This individual rang me and started asking personal questions like whats my date of birth, where do I live etc. When I asked her to prove who she was, she got a little uppity and said she was already looking at my personal details. The point here is that she called me, the number was "blocked" and therefore she could have been anyone.

I had transferred to that plan 18 months ago from an existing O2 billpay option so they must have recently changed the goalposts ?! As I am now am out of contract I have gone "pay as you go" (see my last post)

    Is that an insult?

I saw that after I posted. Not very much though and at the prices they charge once you go over it..... Not for me.

Edit: as ccolgan points out. No there isnt.

nope there is not.. The OP is quoting O2 Clear (Sim only), the 250 MB is O2 Advance (Sim only) and is 40 euro a month, not 35...:)

If your looking for a good o2 deal for billpay, look into simplicty 100 from o2.

    100 any network minutes
    100 any network texts
Unlimited O2 to O2 calls and texts
    30 day contract
    Keep your phone
    Keep your number
That is for 20 euro a month

Add in a data plan for 10 a month for 700mb and its pretty good. Changed over to it few months ago.

I'm on this too (with the same data add-on) and it's working out really well for me.

Don't think that plan is available anymore.
    All that's available now is:
    Simplicity 150: 150 minutes + 150 texts for €15 OR
    Simplicity 150 + Data: 150 minutes + 150 texts + 250MB for €20.

NO free O2 talk and text on either of those plans by the looks of things and no mention of the existing plans which did have free O2 talk and text.

All the plans are there. My current plan still has 8 months to go, but after that I'll be going on the pre-pay Experience More. Free anytime texts and 700mb data for a tenner should see my total bill being about €20 a month

Comparing plans on the (imho) worst value network in the country is on bargain alert because?

Switch. That's the best way to get a good deal

Agreed, this has no place in bargin alerts, anyone on 02 who think they have a bargain deal doesn't know what a bargin is.

Depends on who you are ringing. wife is also on o2, so thats why it works for me.
As for it not being available, its still on their site

    Won't let you order though.

Agree with the above anyway, there's far, far better value to be had elsewhere.

I'm an existing O2 customer and just switched to the plan the OP mentioned - O2 Clear 250, unlim o2 calls and texts plus 500 minutes and 500 texts to other networks and landlines for 35. It's just a 30 day contract, not an 18mth one. I think it's a pretty good deal - my OH is also on O2 so it makes sense to stay with them. This should def cut down my monthly bill (it's ranged from 40 to 105(!) in the last year).

You approached this correctly - these people seem to think that the onus of proof is only on you and not on them. Beggars belief that they get snotty when you turn things around. But happens all the time.
