I have been offered a mint (I have seen the pics, it is like new) Escort Ghia 5 door in white with blue velour interior.

It is £1200 if somebody can get to Manchester quick!

pm for more pics - it is not mine and not really what I am looking for myself. But I thought it might tickle someones fancy on here.

There used to be a silver 1600 Ghia in Tralee with the reg 1600ZX. Unfortunatly, all that's left now is the rear plate on my shed wall.

Nice motor, but that is probably the value and a little more in the present climate. Add a couple of hundred for vrt , four or five more for going over and bringing it back and before you know it you have a car costing anything between two and a half to three grand. Wouldn't make that it if you tried to sell it here !!:o

I approve of this car! :D

If you do get it, check for rust holes under the battery. It's a common problem on these cars.

The entire bulkhead on 1600ZX was clean rotten! That was an ex English car too though.

My Mk3 is surprisingly intact rust wise, although the battery tray was gone though. Even more surprising is that it spent most of its life near the coast in Waterford.

you'd also be stupid to buy a mk3 escort in the UK to try and sell it here. very specialist market. And equally stupid to spend €500 to travel over and back. would you be drinking vintage malt scotch and smoking cuban cigars along the way?

The "import" cost is the main reason I won't get it.. I suppose it might appeal the right person reliving an 80's dream. Or somewhere to put it away for 20 years!

1200 quid is nothing (for a car) these days, but I agree you'd never see your return if you brought it over ... maybe a patient seller might make a few hundred in England again.

Anybody selling a clean Carnina E 1.6 Saloon?

Yeah methinks my quote of 500 isn't far off, even without a lot of malt and cuban cigars !!
