Back in form...any suggestions?

    Hi everyone,

Well as the title suggests I'm 'back in form' pretty soon - meaning I've been stuck here in the UK for the past 7 or so months on placement for university without a car and I'm due back late June/July...so not long to go 'till I get to have my very own car to spend hours on end waxing and polishing :) .

Anywho, I'm sick of spending hours on end 'humming and haaing' about which car to go for, so here's where I'd really appreciate some advice/suggestions.

    Driver info.
    - male
    - 21
    - full Irish licence 3 years
    - 1 years NCB

    Motor requirements
    - reliable and affordable to maintain (alfa GT's have been a favourite but not sure I'm ready to commit to something I might not be able to afford to keep)
    - 2004 minimum
    - 45mpg+ (commute of approx. 350 miles per week)
    - min 1.6, max. 2.0 (would prefer something with a bit of poke, rather than a weak engine having to cope with my heavy foot)
    - FSH with mileage under 85k
    - I prefer cars with style both inside and out over the trad. eurobox, so bonus points for this!

And finally the most important bit - the budget. Looking at €7,000 max, will be taking out a loan over 5 years for the car.

Motors gurus - do your work! :)

Thanks for any help in advance!

    Cul.

beautiful cars I agree, but the 1.9 JTDM engine has been known to give problems with regards to water pump failure, and incognito, timing belt failure..

Case of heart over head I think :)
