Questions about weightlifting

Looking to implement weightlifting into my plan aswell as running and cleaning up my diet, doing them on different days of the week. My plan is to use the couch to 5k program Mon, Wed and Fri, and do weights, Tue, Thur, and Sat, and rest on Sunday :)

I am getting on fine with the running but I purchased a set of dumbbells yesterday. It has 8 x 1.25KG plates and 4 0.5KG plates. I don't know if this is heavy enough but is it ok for a beginner?

I'm not too sure on what course/programme to do. I also do not know what weight to start with. Should I get heavier weights or is what I have fine for now? Start weak and work up? Any tips are appreciated

If you check out this thread and the link in post 4 in particular, it will give you some ideas of exercises you can do with the dumbells. And as the poster that provided that link said, don't do all these exercises in the one workout.

Also if you check out YouTube for "Dumbbell Routines", "Dumbbell Workouts" or "Dumbbell Exercises", I am sure that you will get some more ideas.

As for the weights you bought, I am assuming that the set is similar to this one. If so each dumbell, when all the plates are added will weigh 7.5kg. IMO this is not too bad for starting off with as normally females would be started on 8kg kettlebells, but I think that you will need to consider buying more plates in the not too distant future as you will quickly get used to the 7.5kg.

There are a few options at Argos
As with all new exercise programs, start off slowly nad build up, giving your body time to get used to the new demands you are placing on it.
