Has Facebook peaked?

Well, I don't know if anyone but an analyst can answer this fully, but I've noticed that people seem to be using it a lot these days, including me.

I joined in September 2008. My peak use was throughout 2009 (especially around the time of my finals :D) and maybe half of 2010. Since then, my use has steadily declined, and some days I forget to check it at all. But it's not just me. I've noticed a lot of formerly avid users on my friend list seem to barely go on it now, even the Farmville addicts!

    Has anyone else noticed this?

I hope so. Let all these Johnny-com-latelys fuck off and leave the internet to us nerds again.

I think it may have but i have noticed more converts recently and the older generation are starting to embrace it more. Saying that though it may mean its getting uncool. I think its a necessity for people emigrating, so for our country i feel it still has a lot of time left.

People(granted Bebo was for 12-20ish) have been using sites like FB for over 5 years now.

I can't see it dying away, it all depends on your internet consumption.

I don't use FB to talk to friends, I use my phone and MSN for that, but I do use it to keep it touch with people I wouldn't call a close friend, for that use alone I'd always keep it.

Right now I'm trying to get some girls for Tag Rugby and I think I've hit two, I would NOT have got them without it.

I've also got some lads for a game of football when we're short, lads outside the friends lists.

Its as popular as ever. People have just put their friends into groups and appear offline to those that they are merely acquainted with most of the time.

So its just you... but no doubt the facebook haters will be out in force on this thread.

The problem with Bebo was, it was restricted to younger people.
The whole editing your page and the likes stopped the older crowds getting involved.

The FB came along and it had all your Bebo friends plus all those older people who wouldn't join Bebo so it made sense to just switch.

Bebo declined very sharply though, FB seemed to have more staying power.

There was no point using both.

    FB is much simpler.
You have your comments, chat and pics.

No silly customisation or Top Friends lists.

And better integration with friends through Home.

i'll give it 2 more years, this open source one thats coming up will wipe facebook out. ever since you stopped needing a college email its gone downhill, every six months another nail in its coffin, good!

Skype is 1 to 1 though.

You wouldn't have more then 2/3 friends with it.

You also can't see pics and things going on in general on it either.

Also time difference between US and Oz makes Skype a bit awkward

I don't! I only have FB. I quit Bebo before it was cool*. :D:P

I can't see Facebook peak before the float.

    Microsoft is buying Skype.

    Microsoft is buying Skype.

MSN, Xbox Live and Skype all together, who needs FB.
