Is it possible to delete a gmail account without having to factory reset the phone? I wouldn't have taken it over to my phone had I known it was gonna be so difficult

    Thanks

I tried that thanks but I get the following messaeg -

"This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory settings (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the settings application under Privacy".

I don't want to delete all my personal data so wondering if there is a way around the factory reset part?

    Thanks

You need to add another account first, or else do a factory reset.
    Settings >Privacy>Factory Data Reset.

Just wondering if there was ever a solution to this problem?
Even after adding another account you are still requested to do a factory reset............and I presume this deletes all your info!?

Any other options as the notification on LHS of screen is annnoying :(

No solution, you must keep the default account or default the phone,
There are numerous Apps you can use to back up everything & do a full restore.
You contacts and calendars etc will also be pulled back down from your Gmail account.
