Hi folks, i recently got a small car off a friend of mine it had been lying idle for some time, he never received a logbook from the previous owner so obviously i dont have one either. I was planning on doing a few small bits to the car to sell her on. Is there any way at all that i could obtain a logbook for this car considering i dont have a clue who the previous owner was and have no way off finding out.

    Many thanks

Ring Shannon direct and they should be able to advise ya fairly easily. Usually very helpful when you ring them I've found

 You are joking right. Any time I rang them you get a rude person nearly barking at you and they are slow too.

Thats beside the point I guess.Give them the chassis number and they should be able to tell you if its even registered.

There is a way of getting a logbook. You will need to get a form from the tax office for a missing log book. You will then need to complete that form, take the car to a main dealer the verify that the number coincides with the chassis nbr. Then you will need to get this signed by a peace commissioner or solicitor.
Long rigmarole , but it will get you a log book.:D

You could also try downloading and fill out this form

    https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/pdf/RF134_en.pdf.

Otherwise you might have to re-register or register her again.

You are joking ! Shannon will certainly not give you a log book for a car in these circumstances. How are they to know that you even own the car.
However if you wish to try , best of luck !
