    Hi Callumn

    1) You need lots of backlinks, here's a free tool that will give you 25 a day, www.socialmonkee.com/index.php?af=11525

You should add backlinks everyday to outrank your competition.

    2) Write a few articles and submit them to authority article directories, such as ezine articles

    3) When you make an update on your site, ping it, another free tool, http://pingomatic.com/

Google will crawl you site faster

    4) Upload some video to youtube, linking back to your site

    5) Make sure your on page SEO is nailed.

    6) Make a hubpage, a squidoo page and a blogger page, all linking back to your site.

    7) Submit your site to social bookmarking sites, such as digg, you should also have social bookmark links on your site, there's free wordpress plugins for this.

    8) Make a facebook page.

    9) Make sure the title of your site in the header matches your key keyword and keep it short.

Back linking like that can be bad for your rank.

Only links of value are good for your site.

When you say links of value do you mean links relevant to your site? For example if i sold make up and had a backlink on site which sold gym equipment would that actually damage your rank?

While it's not done with bad intentions, there's enough terrible advice there to get your site banned and deindexed from the search engines. Please don't follow it. It's breaching numerous search engine guidelines and while you may get away with it for a short time, it's a fifty fifty shot between giving an almost negligible benefit to earning you penalties.

Take a look through the Internet Marketing and SEO forum, read the advice given to various other sites/people in a similar position and if you've specific queries throw them up and you'll get help along the way.

It's not a 'black and white' one link will damage your rank steve_. A single link like that wouldn't do any harm at all. If your entire link profile was made up of non relevant, spammy, questionable links... that's a different story.

Your business name is working against you. "Cheap" is not a word I would use in any business I was running. Immediately you're off to a bad start. People want good value, not cheap.

How did your adwords campaign perform? Do you even know? Did you develop it yourself or did you get a professional to look at it for you?

Free business listings are just that, free. Everyone is going to be on them so you're not going to see much benefit from them. Definitely get listed, I just wouldn't see it making your business take off.

This is your business, how you are going to make money and feed/cloth yourself, do you think having a basic website (in your opinion) is going to drive potential customers to contact you?

I also don't have much confidence in a web designer when they can't even link to their own website in the footer.

The best example i can give you are the sites I own. I only link to sites which are driving and or motoring related. (this is still something I try to stay away from).

Content in your site is much more important than links.

    Noticed that myself.
And another thing, they have a sitemap in their site but not in the OPs

    Hi Calum

Backlinks are ranked in quality by google according to the authority of the site, the stuff I posted came from some advice I got in the SEO forum. Hard to get really high quality backlinks when you are starting out...takes a long time for google to move you up.

A backlink is where another site/blog has a hyperlink to your site.

Its very complicated as there are things called white hat and black hat techniques some google likes some they dont but when you are starting out I wouldnt worry too much as you get better at it you find ways of getting links from better more relevant sites.

Also hook up your site to google analytics, it gives you info on how many people are coming to your site and where they are coming from so you can post more links on those good sites.

First of all I used the word cheap because there is a recession out there and I though people would appreciate cheap storage facilities hence www.cheapstorage.ie I though it is simple and easy to remember

Secondly I used the google anaytics to indentify how people search for storage and the number of searches invoved I got addwords to this effect for 2 months and got hardly any clicks complete waste of time but very expensive some clicks in storage costs up to 2.50 if not more

thirdly I paid a company in the uk to have 12 keywords and first page sponsored adds where you are in a coloured shaded area on the 1 st page of google /I checked them every day sometimes they are in page one sometimes they are not and still the phone hasnt rung I have now tried the sponsored adds and the addwords to no avail
I believe the way forward is organically grow you website but I am afraid of spending money becuse of previous advice

Lastly I actually registared my site on monkee.ie for the backlinks Is this a a bad move for the website seems to be mixed reviews

keep the advice flowing boys great stuff

Your sites SEO is your main issue at the minute, backlinks are built up over time so I wouldnt focus too much on the above for the immediate. You arent making use of meta tags on most pages for titles and in your content. I have sent you a pm.

In the footer (the bottom of the pages) their is a link to the creators site which is giving a 404 error.

    They have:
    http://www.cheapstorage.ie/this.ie
    it should be:
    http://www.this.ie
