I need to get four tyres for the Golf, been quoted €80 a corner for Uniroyal or Firestone? Which should I go for? Or can you beat that price?

Uniroyal RainExpert but I'm biased as I've used them for years.

    Have you considered Hankook tyres?

Having had both firestone and uniroyal on my old lancer,

    I'd go for the uniroyal.

They gave great grip in the wet,i could drive 80% as quick as dry conditions.

The firestones i thought felt a bit "soapy" in the wet.

    Not confidence inspiring at all!

I found the walls of the Uniroyals way too soft and this caused a lot of body roll. Changed back to Firestone.

Uniroyal soft sidewalls can give a floaty feeling when cornering, push the PSI up a bit to counter this.

So well inflated Uniroyals are the way to go?

I like vredestein sportracs. Camskill were doing them reasonable enough last year

How does that work though when you go to get the tyre fitted??

Would the tyre place not tell you where to go when you bring your own tyres & ask them to fit & balance them???

I am about to buy some from camskill. Anyone know someone in sligo who will fit them for a reasonable fee. Failing that galway would do either.
