I have been offered extra work for next year in another school, providing this does not interfere with the school I am employed in can I take it? It states on my contract I must inform my employer of other work, the other school is a private school and I'd find it very hard to say no given the rates I'm being offered but do not want to find myself in hot water either.

    Hi gaeilge

You won't find yourself in hot water if you're honest.

Tell your employer. Either they have a problem with it or they don't.

If they have a problem with it, you can't do the work as the school you primarily work in should be your priority

I did some extra work earlier in the year and my principal was fine about it - his main concern was that it didn't interfere with my position in the school, which it didn't, so all was well.

Many teachers do extra work in other schools or institutions which are not their main centres of employment.
