Report scammers to the website concerned.

she then asked me for money to come and visit me and i sent her money but she never came.

This is the point at which alarm bells should have went off in your head. It's the oldest trick in the book. To be honest, there is no guarantee you were even emailing a female.

All you can do is learn from this and move on, and try not to be as naive in future. I appreciate you feel like getting justice now and getting your own back on this new emailer, but there are millions of scammers out there and there will be many more in years to come - you'll never 'beat' them. Even if you somehow manage to scam a scammer they'll just move on to another target.

The best damage you can do to a scammer is to keep them away from your money so that they are wasting their time, and hopefully they eventually give up their attempts out of futility.

i am on a few dating sites as i wanted to meet a girl. im 25yrs old. however last year, a foreign girl started emailing me and we emailed back and forth for 6 months in total. she told me she loved me so much and i believed her. she then asked me for money to come and visit me and i sent her money but she never came. i later found out she was scamming me, just using me to get money.
    it hurt me so much.
anyway a few days ago, i got an email just like how hers began with photos of a girl and really interested to get to know me. i have no doubt that she is just another money scammer. id love some tips on how to shock her or play her at her own game. any ideas?
what do i say to her? should i play dumb and pretend i think shes for real or what?? i just hate these girls taking advantage of me...

OP, Im so sorry to hear what happened to you. I would definately take Emme's advice and just report it. No point stooping to her level. It can be very risky internet dating and I would definately be more careful, never ever give money to any of these people.

I really hope she gets caught and that you recover from this. I know it hurts. But thank god you found out now and not years down the line. take care

Like the others have said there's no point in trying to catch this one out, the best thing you can do is learn from what happend before and move on.

Reporting these scammers could help stop others from having their money taken.

thank u all for ur replies. you have all been so sympathetic.
but please understand that i want to play her at her own game.. could i say something like "im so rich i dont know what to spend my money on" to entice her to ask for some... and then i can teach her a lesson. or else "i want to see u but ull have to pay for my ticket cos im unemployed" ??

it just angers and hurts me to the core- i really put my heart into the last girl. told her my deepest secrets.. all for a scam!!

Spending your time plotting revenge wont make the hurt go away.

If/when you do trick them (thats assuming that they are a scammer too), it will be a hollow victory becuase you will still be holding in the anger, instead of trying to move on.

Which do you think is better for you, concentrating on recovering from the feelings of hurt and betrayal or focusing on another scammer? I know which i'd choose.

I think you would be far better off forgetting about the whole sorry affair and moving on. I can see you getting a bit obsessed with revenge and it's not going to do you any good. For all you know, these ladies (if indeed they are female ) have quite a few guys on the go at the same time. Email is a wonderful thing but it's not real life. You can't get to know a person properly over email despite what you think.

There will always be people out there trying in different ways to relieve you of your money. You were naive and it cost you. Better to learn from this mistake and take nothing at face value from now on.

I really wouldn't. I always feel these things backfire on people in some way. Save your time and energy and move on. I know it's a pride buster, and it's so annoying to be used like that. But just chalk it up to experience for the next time you sense someone could be deceitful or suspicious.

You can't hurt this person, they do what happened to you as their job. It may not even be the same person mailing you now as the first time, just the same photos stolen off another website. You'll get obsessed with tricking them, they won't give a cr4p when it happens. When it becomes apparent they're getting no money out of you they'll stop mailing, there's no heart involved here except your own. Report them to the dating site and move on

Ah man I really feel for you what a bummer!!! There are some horrendous excuses for human beings out there to do something like that. The only thing you can do is move on and forget about this as quickly as possible. Stay away from online dating for a while, forget about the revenge thing it wont make you feel any better in the long run. You were just unlucky thats all could have happened to anyone, even the wisest owls. Dont let it put you off with girls in the future, just be careful and dont give any money to people you dont know.

You will not meet a cool girl by being angry and wanting revenge, learn a lesson and move on, be more proactive with life, choose online dating websites cafefully and dont rely on the 100%, there are many ways to meet nice girls who want the same things you want, sitting and plotting behind a pc will only increase your unhappiness and will make you the person that you are currently angry over, learn, live and move on.

    Good luck

    Some realities....
you say you were scammed by a girl in a different country. in reality, you were most likely scammed by some guy in a said country. These are classic internet scams. Alot of people who use dating sites and social networking sites get these scams. Early on in mails (even as much as the first reply) you get the classic "oh please mail me here at xxxxx@xxxx.com" , then give you the sob story over mails or the eventual "i'll come see you but cant afford it" con. boom. you've been swindled.

as for revenge? sadly you aint going to get any. If you dont entertain the idea of giving money to them, they simply move on to con the next guy. Live and learn op is all you can do.
