My Screen Broke, Tv-to-Laptop Cable?

I have an acer aspire 6930g that is atrocious, second time the screen has
broke  I'm really stuck at the moment needing a laptop, moreso than
ever, & can't afford to buy a new laptop or even to get this one fixed, I
wonder if I could get a tv-to-laptop cable so that I could just use
the laptop through a tv until I buy a new one, would it work? I can still
see the screen so that I could install whatever needs to be done to get
the wire working, if needed, then maybe just remove the screen totally
    & use the tv.

For an acer aspire 6930g is there any specific cable you have to buy,
& could you buy it in Dublin? I'd love to be able to check this myself
but I just don't understand anything about laptops apart from the fact
that ddr3 ram is slightly better than ddr2 ram :o Thanks so much!

If your laptop has a hdmi port on it all you will need is a hdmi cable if nor there will be a vga port on your laptop it will have 15 holes on it as long as your tv has a vga port you can just use that.

Your laptop does indeed have a hdmi port. The advantage of using this over the VGA output is that it will be of good quality for video to your tv and it will also carry audio. Text may appear better on some screens by using the VGA output but i would buy the cheapest HDMI lead and see how that goes. If you know a good tech guy he should be able to replace that screen for around €100

Well I was sick of that laptop, such a hatred incurred I that I found a way
    to buy a new laptop.

Now, before buying this I went to a shop with the old one to get the hdmi
wire only to learn that I would not be able to use the thing because I don't
have a tv capable of taking it (:o), so then, then, I naively plugged my old
pc monitor into the port that accepts it only for my laptop to now refuse
    to turn on
(:o:o). I now have a laptop with a broken screen containing
all the important information I badly need that refuses to turn on. Happy
    days...

Is there any way I can get all of my information off the old two drives put
    on to my new laptop?

As I said, I know nothing about laptops other than that they get you
pron video lectures on every subject imaginable

So before you go out spending MORE money, try taking the battery out of your old (non working) laptop and go make a cup of tea. Sometimes that can reset things. There is a caddy you can get (on ebay) so that you can connect your old hard drive to your new laptop and you will see it as an external drive. You can then browse to the folders you need and copy them accross.

I took the drive out & put it into an external box I was able to procure,
there may have been "more money" involved :o, & have sorted the issue
out as regards the data (which I'm so fcuking happy about as I was so stuck!).
Thanks for the info about the battery, lets hope against hope it'll work
when I put the hard drive & battery back in  Cheers for the help.
