199 pounds compared to 619 euro makes a small difference.

buy it for €199 and there is no rip off ...... it's called competition and if all the prices were the same it would be a cartel .... fair play for exercising your franchise as a consumer and buy at the cheaper price.

Bricks & Mortar stores pay this thing called rent. And they have to add this to the price of product as otherwise they go out of business.

Most people want to buy from a brincks & mortar store as they like to see, feel and listen to the product. They want to know that they can go locally and return the product if something goes wrong or that they can talk to someone face to face if they need to know something about the product.

Some people like to buy without all of the above, thus take some layers of cost of the product.

Its not rip off, (except littlewoods who are rip off for everything and are a UK company - not Irish) it pure and simple market choice.

€349 vs £199+delivery (if they deliver) makes a smaller difference

Yep - an average store of about 2000 sq ft in Ilac centre / Henry st area would set you back about €350,000 per year + about €50,000 in council rates + about €40,000 in service charges.

A warehouse in Kildare would be under €20,000 inclusive of rates & service charges.

That €420,000 has to be added to the cost of items.

Well done. Thats an excellent breakdown and should go quite a way in explaining why the differences involved. I wonder could someone make it a sticky?
