    Hi Folks,

Last saturday I was driving home when my 320d just switched itself off. I checked the fault codes and these came up. I then locked and unlocked the car and she started and drove fine for the next 250miles. happened twice yesterday. locking/unlocking worked the first time but now it won't start. it just keeps swinging when i try and start it.

On saturday I'd just had the tracking done (coincidently), not sure is this related but when they were doing it they may of damaged a sensor or something I don't know.

I tried googling it, apparently its something to do with traction control/ABS module.

Has anyone had experience of this before? is it just a sensor fix our is she going to need a new brain??

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Josh

Get the car professionally diagnosed IMO!

    Has the car got FBMWSH?

You may be able to get money off replacing the ABS/ESP module (it is expensive) - it's a common problem on those cars and BMW normally covers the cost of parts if you've kept the servicing up to date and did it with a BMW dealer even if the car is outside of warranty.

If you don't, try finding one from a breakers' yard - they should have no problems finding one for you as there are plenty of E90s around.

No I've no BMWSH, I only bought the car at christmas. The previous owner may of had it serviced with BMW as it was a salesman's car. is there anyway of checking this? do BMW keep a record?

I've sent the car to my local mechanic who has diagnostic equipment. If he can't discover the problem, i've arranged to get it sent to a Morrisons BMW in Cahir for repair.

If its a common fault with them I think it should be covered by BMW and I'll happily argue the point with them

    thanks for the advice

BMW keep a complete service history for a car (if it is given a BMW service).
I got a complete service history for my Jap import 525i from Murphy & Gunn (both printed and emailed copies).

Hey, turns out it was a relay go in one of the ECU's. the mechanic tried connecting to the computer but nothing was happening. he got on the main dealer and he gave him a list of checks to run. there was a relay with no current going into it, when he maunally induced the current into the relay the car started so they replaced the relay. bolands in waterford had them instock, while they said its not a common fault, the fact they had them instock might suggest otherwise;) happy days back on the road again!

Sorry fella, no idea, I'll try fix anything myself when its mechanical but when it comes to electrical I might as well be looking into a field of thistles. all i know is the mechanic said there was about 10 ecu in it!

    happy hunting!
