Dubai roadsters trip out into the desert hills at Hatta, UAE.

Note the barren dessert terrain, this was about 19 am after setting off at 6 am to avoid the midday heat.

it was 33 deg C that day. Near perfect road surfaces

the hill climb at 3 minutes

    the descent at 5 mintes

the up and over to has down up to 8 minutes

the smell of fish at 10 minues

    dropping off at 11 minutes

rescued by a columbian airlinepilot for Etihad Airlines at 13 minutes

    obvious bad ride poistion throughout....

where did that car come from? at 15 minutes

GPS directional malfunction 15 minutes 26 seconds

    the cavalry arrive 16 minutes

    NAMA at 17 minutes

the trip back was a 10 k climb into the mountains at 10 % gradient. I left my Gilet at home in preference for the wexford wheelers jersey, BIG MISTAKE: I fried in the wexford wheelers jersey on the way back, with sun beaming on to my back, no air, mountain summit no air, picture a massive enclosed quarry with a road through it, that is what it was like.

there are more if you want to see them....

if u are heading to Dubai, these guys go out each friday at 6 am, for 120 K. first 40 K is handy, the second 80 K is a race .

entering Hajaar tunnel at 5 minutes,

    descent at 8 minutes:

that was a 10% gradient that we had to ascend on the way back. I boiled in my wexford wheelers jersey

    Class rider 26 minutes

    dodgy hill climbing 34 minutes

Jaysus Mick, you got owned on that descent! With those roads & that gradient you must have hit 80kph at least. The guy in front of you at the start of the descent was pretty handy alright! Youd need a 54-11 to do that one justice!

I was off the bike four days after that trip in UAE, twas 120K, and the returning ascent , no wind , 10%, plus a second hill, wheelers jersey on instead of gilet, meant i fried. no shelter from the heat as it apporached midday.

think the temp got to me on one other occasion, was out with Heart rate monitor , and suddenly heart rate climbed from 150 to 170 in minutes,,,,got to a shop quickly and got 2 litres if water into me.

i seriously underestimated the tour guys, first 40 k handy remaining 80 k thye turned into a serious race,

havnt been right since the whole trip.

dont mention that they dont have something, otherwise they will just build a replica.....

no video of the return hill leg where I boiled like veg in a microwave bag , the remaining 4 days of the holday were spent resting, . went on the bike but heart not budging , for 3 days afterwards . then once back home, down with flu within a week , followed by dead legs on the arklow 3 peaks challange , and a slow 2 week rebuild to now near, functioning legs.
