Awesome work by everyone involved;);) I already can't wait for the next issue.... Kicks Take Aim's ass in both content and style!

    Well done lads.

When take Aim mag came to an end it was quite apparent that the volume of readers and the revenue from the retailers and sites adverts weren't enough to justify the costs associated with its production.
This however is a great idea and probably one which fits better with the size of the Irish Airsoft community-Free and online!
Have to hold my hands up and say I missed the boat on this one. I was offered the opportunity to advertise but let the deadline pass.I won't let that happen again. It's far better than I expected.Well done lads

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback and thanks to shane_ef for bringing the magazine to the attention of everyone here on Boards. I was pretty surprised to see it popping up here so quickly - it's only been online for a few hours.
We'll be getting to work on the next issue very soon so we'd love to get suggestions on what type of content people would like to see. You can email us at the addresses listed in the magazine.

Great job lads, a great read and looks fantastic.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a quick word to some of the commenters though....quit the Take AIM bashing, yeah ? When it came out at first you were all over it as the best thing to hit Irish Airsoft. And then with the first Take AIM cup it was a great leap forward for Irish Airsoft and everyone was singing its praises. And now you're taking cheap swipes at it? The lads behind it read these forums, even if they don't comment - how do you think these kind of comments would make them feel ?

It might not have worked out, or went in the direction you guys wanted because the Irish market was too small to support it, but it was a VERY noble effort, and it certainly doesn't deserve the disdain being heaped upon it.

Cop the **** on lads - this begrudgery is disgusting, and from people who should know better. You should be ashamed of yourselves - this is the kind of divisive bull**** that causes friction that doesn't need to exist.

Oh, and by the way - it's actually doing very well in the US to this day, because the market is there to support it. Even AI has pulled out of the US. Not bad for a small Irish publication.

Fair point Tony but in my post I was in no way trying to do that.
I would consider Alan from Take Aim Mag. a friend of mine.I supported the mag right up till it finished selling in Ireland and regularly told Alan the problems I could forsee with the publication.I hope people don't see my post as a criticism.
I was purely giving reasons why I think this publication can stand the test of time. That's all.
In hindsight maybe I should have made no reference to Take Aim.

Oh, and I hope you're still coming for tea:)

And more power 2 the lads from take aim, but in fairness a little ott 2 posters mention take aim, and merely said this was a better publication, 1 in fact mentioned both mags? hardly take aim bashing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion after all

I'll drink tea with anyone :)

I wasn't actually thinking of your post - yours is based on fact and reasoned analysis, and one I agree with. But it's failure to be viable in the Irish Market isn't the fault of the lads who built it from nothing, and the venom that I sometimes seemdirected at it sickens me. You know me - sometimes my buttons are too easy to push !

I like Nice Creams, by the way, just so you know :)

Yeah, I know Trev - it was based more on stuff I hear every day than a couple of comments here. There's this attitude in airsoft over here (and maybe in all pastimes, cos it's an Irish thing) that anything new is effin awesome and the best thing ever, and then after awhile it's **** and the people behind it are ****. Just annoys me, is all.

I dont really read here anymore but someone mentioned this to me earlier,

Thats actually very well put together. Well done guys, i wasn't expecting it to be quite that well put together when i heard about it. The only niggly point for me would be that the photography in the technical bit doesnt really stand up to the quality set throughout the rest of the mag and a pet hate of mine is to see fingers in the pics (but thats just me :D, and its a non issue really) but for issue 1 is a fantastic start. I love the pic of Keith in the water that dex took, it really takes you into the action. I dunno if its the idea, but the last page i actually thought was an add for thecamoshop. its very similar in the layout and in the same location of the mag. I subscribed to ya there so looking forward to see whats next, Is this a monthly/bimonthly thing?

    Re TakeAim bashing,
It should be noted for those not in the know, that these things were said by the very same people who have shown previous Malice towards takeaim (and other sites & retailers) for reasons of rivalry, envy and just pig ignorance to be honest.

I am proud to have been a part of takeaim over the last few years and like the lads, I always strive to better myself with each and every issue. To this day i don't think any publication offers quite the level of detail that takeaim set as the norm when reviewing gear. We just dont see people going through the effort when you can just yap on about a stock or a hand guard or something.
We mustn't forget too, that the airsoft worlds eyes were on takeaim when we broke news and reviews that were months ahead of the competition worldwide, and all this done by a handful of guys in little old Ireland who came together through a common interest in the game and that sort of audience doesn't come cheaply. It was hard work and In many cases dare i say, still the best information available online or in print.

People (like myself) have voiced their opinions on some things they didnt like about takeaim in previous times and with all credit to Ian, he takes these things onboard and changed things to suit. The problem is though, you can never satisfy everyone and the changes you make to appease group A will be to the dissatisfaction of group B and this is true of any publication that becomes a success. AI has an anti following, TakeAim do and in time if Sitrep is a great success, it will also have those who aren't happy its not developing in the direction they want. you can unfortunately, only satisfy the majority.

I have also in the past made the point that some of the people most well known for making their opinions heard on the likes of boards have made no effort at all to give any feedback previously, only to sit back and bash their keyboard in protest at the things they kept quiet about until then. Without getting that sort of feedback though, it is impossible to give certain members of your audience what they want in a magazine so you are sitting in a catch 22.

I've met loads of genuine people through this magazine and have learned more than i could ever have expected in my time. At times it was mental, I've done many a late night snapping away to get the right pics to go with a review, Or shooting takedown reviews when the cat would always wanto to sit beside the gun and refused to get out of the shot, lol. I'm proud of what 3 guys working from home where able to produce and to hear the positive feedback for what were are doing from those following the mag.
I'm still plugging away as ever with the lads and things are doing well over seas for it. i do hope we can get back to distributing throughout Ireland etc again soon though but the size of this tiny community and its volatility with all of these different factions make that almost an impossibility since group A dont like you if you are friendly with group B etc etc.

Anyway, enough waffle. back to work.:D
See yas in senny in 2 weeks guys!

Could you clarify that statement? As myself, Ricka and Puding mentioned Take Aim, who are you referring to?
