turn the router's firewall settings to low or off
or if you can with it, put your ps3's ip into the router's DMZ
if there is no dmz option, you should port forward
    PSN Ports
    TCP: 3074
    UDP: 3074, 3075

    COD Ports
    TCP: 5223
    UDP: 2095, 3478, 3479, 3658, 5223
the 2095 is the one that the sites don't tell you about

    FIFA Ports
    TCP: 9980-9989, 10000-10500,42100-42199
    UDP: 3659,6000,9750,10500-12500

Also these are sometimes listed. I don't know why, and they can cause issues if you host a webserver through your router so use at your discretion
    PSN-Web
    TCP: 80, 443

Absolutely DO NOT follow this advice. This does not fix the underlying problem and will open you to a whole world of pain.

You want your PS3 to state NAT 2. Can I guess that you are with Eircom or maybe delving into 3G midband? Eircom routers are notoriously cheap and bad. Invest ion a proper router [€70~] will solve your issue PROPERLY.

slight exaggeration there sweet heart, often router firewalls default values wont allow p2p connections in/out...

once op has firewall enabled on pc, he/she is grand

Don't be so condescending. My advice still stands. By your own admission
often router firewalls default values wont allow p2p connections in/out
Can you be CERTAIN that the OP will have no security issues if he takes your advice?

You put faith in software firewalls? I think that's enough said.

OP, take advice as you deem fit but research your final decision to make sure you are not opening yourself up to some hassle on the rest of your network.
