Can someone tell me the difference between Applegreen's Unleaded 95 at 151.8 and Texaco Premium Unleaded at 151.9?

Is it just me or are Applegreen taking the piss? Or am I wrong...

    Sure there's 0.1c of a difference :pac:

Seriously it's all Octane 95 - we don't do Octane 98 overhere. It's just marketing from Tesco as every little helps sell more of our stuff.

There's no difference in the petrol. All the unleaded is 95 octane in Ireland (maxol maybe excepted).

Right. Interesting. Would be interesting to see the price of 98 if it exists anywhere..... I have to say I am surprised we dont have any here.

    Thanks.

I wish they did have proper premium unleaded here. Apparently the tax on it would make it prohibitively expensive.

Just reading on the web that California use 85 and 89.... sweet. lol My Car would be in the garage after using 85.

Two different systems of measuring the rating, 89 is roughly equivalent to our 95.

The 85 stuff would still be muck though.

iirc Super Unleaded was 15-20c more than regular when it was on sale here. It disappeared around 2005.

All unleaded is minimum 95 octane, it can be higher than that and usually is.

Maxol have a list of sites - basically any larger ones - which are guaranteed to sell 99.2 octane at all times as they're exclusively supplied from Whitegate Refinery. Other stations in Ireland sell whatever the hell they can get their hands on.

Only thing for sure these days is that it'll be 5% ethanol or more as that is all that is ever made or imported here. But not all E5 is as high octane as Maxol's, it can be blended as low as 95 for sale here.

Yes Downy's in Portlaoise does. What is it? Lubricant?

This is an interesting post. re: 98ron useless for shopping cars.
