Recommend Me a Futuristic/Sci-Fi FPS for PS3

I've played through and enjoyed Call of Duty Black Ops. I'm now looking for recommendations on a more futuristic or sci-fi style first-person shooter. I'm not too familiar with what's good and bad on the PS3 so that's where you folks (hopefully) can steer me in the right direction.

I'm very much in the dark when it comes to FPSs on the PS3 with the exception of a brief play of Bioshock 2 last year some time which left me hating the controls more than anything. I was coming directly from a PC keyboard and mouse setup so the dual analogue sticks took a lot of getting used to. Hours of Black Ops have helped :).

So anyway, please recommend me some games!

Resistance fall of man 1/2 (1 better than 2)
    Killzone 2/3 (2 better than 3)
Crysis 2 ( better than all of them)

^ all great enjoyable games, you could try Alien vs Predator and Fear also.

    I second Resistance FOM & Crysis 2.

I would go with Crysis 2.
Also try Bioshock 1 & 2 (1 being better for the originality)

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I will do some reading up on reviews over the next few days.

I just checked out the prices of Bioshock 1 & 2 on GameSeek and Play.com. Strangely Bioshock 1 is more expensive on both sites. Does anyone know why this is? I would have thought that older games would naturally be cheaper.

I think the reason Bioshock 1 is more expensive is that it is harder to come by and is harder to find compared to BS2.

I'll add to the votes of Crysis 2 really enjoying it. Picked up Bulletstorm for cheap too which I've played a bit of and finding it pretty fun and refreshing. No competitive multiplayer though.

Would definitely recommend Bioshock too. Incredible game.

I've ordered Bioshock 1 and 2 off Amazon. I hope they are as good as they are made out to be :).

Bit of an old game but if you haven't got the orange box I'd recommend that.

    Resistance (1 + 2), Killzone(s), Crysis 2 are all excellent.

Turok from a few years ago isnt bad either, i enjoyed it and you could pick it up cheap now.

I know it's a TPS and not a FPS, but I would highly recommend Dead Space 2 as a Sci-Fi shooter.
A mate of mine is actually playing his way through this at the moment and has promised to lend it to me. We actually had a good laugh about it as we haven't swopped games in years.

Once I've gotten through the Bioshocks I'll probably give Crysis 2 a whirl.

I probably don't need to create a thread for this so: I have received Bioshock 2 in the post. Unfortunately Bioshock 1 hasn't arrived yet. I've installed Bioshock 2 and pottered about the first scene just to make sure the disc is okay. I'm wondering if I should wait and play through Bioshock 1 first? Or is it a bit like Quake 1 and Quake 2 where the games are in the same series but share little or no plot details and it's not necessary to have played one to be able to appreciate the other.

i would hold off as their is a great story to the first one with twists and reveals which would be ruined by the second one even though there are completely new characters in the second game.

That's grand, I'll do that so. Thanks for the clarification. I deliberately avoided reading extensively through reviews to avoid reading spoilers by accident. Hopefully the first game arrives soon!

Bioshock 1 has finally arrived. It was shipped from Canada for some reason so that would probably explain the delay. It'll keep me occupied for the weekend I'm sure :).

Ya both Bioshock games are f***in incredible. The only FPS that rivals it is Half-Life 2 in my opinion.

I think it's because there's so many copies of Bioshock 2 around. Bioshock 1 is much more rare. Supply and demand etc. Either way their both fantastic games. Singularity is very similiar and is a very good game too

I completed Bioshock at the weekend. For anyone reading this thread who hasn't played I highly recommend it. Sure there are a few flaws with it but for me the story and the setting more than made up for it. I'm not surprised I enjoyed it so much. Had I known that a few of the people responsible for System Shock 2 were behind it I'd have picked it up years ago!

i read the thread and wanted to shout out bioshock 1 and 2 lol.

fair play lad. bioshock 1 is in my top3 ever played games. i love love love it. exploration, story and atmosphere is just increadible. how did you found thos little "when you see it, you sh*t bricks" moments? :D i was playing second time, after years of break and it still got me lol.

bioshock 2 is good too, might not be as great as 1, but still very good.

I'm not sure what bits you mean. There are a few memorable moments in there that made me literally shout out "WTF?".
Stuff like when you meet the first Spider Splicer, the first Houdini Splicer, when Sander Cohen incinerates the guy playing the piano or the showdown with Andrew Ryan. I expected something bad to happen to the family of Atlas in the submarine so when that scene happened I wasn't too surprised.

I also really liked the part when you see the first Big Daddy through a glass passageway. It reminded me of the intro to Half Life where you get the sense of an actual world outside your narrow frame of reference.

I can't see your spoiler thing as I am on the phone. I ment those little bits like sneaking on doctors shadow and bang no lights. Or interesting statues... ;)
They are so well executed, it did made my jump!

I just like how they make setting for zones and bosses. You find audiologs about them, writings on Walls. Art work ( if you can call butchered bodies with style ;) ).

Start on second one now. It's good too. Just I don't like the choose of main character, nothing worse then be playing as tinfoil big daddy :( ( hard mode )

If you still looking for good scifi then maybe killzone? It would be more of cod in future ( but in good way ). Lovely animations, great graphics. Controls are a bit weird. You can't choose standart layout, you got to play with totally different set up, which is very uncomfortable for me.

No worries, I just stuck a spoiler around some stuff that people who haven't played the game might not want to have spoiled for them. It's along the lines of what you posted so we are in agreement there :).

Yeah, I might check that out. I'll have to play through BioShock 2 and Dead Space 2 first!
