pajamas in the welfare office

i went down to sign on at 2 o'clock this afternoon and there was a young girl in the signing que in her pajamas.

i must say it pi55ed me off something fierce, it really shows that she has no interest in looking for work because she was still in her pajamas at 2 in the afternoon.

would have annoyed you as much as it annoyed me??

Some people have no self-respect. Yeah, it would've annoyed me too but it's the country we live in (usually people would say 'the world we live in' but I doubt many countries have as much incentives to be bone idle)

If true, she should receive a bonus for being so braisant

OP, I am glad you took time out of your hectic schedule to let us know about this.
It wouldn't have annoyed me at all but then I have more importnat things to keep me busy.

Considering that it's now taken that this is a new "craze" that's happening (the PJ parade) it wouldn't bother me in the least.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,299 ✭✭✭✭later12

That would bother me too, but it isn't altogether rational to be bothered by it. She might have had the flu, or be otherwise unwell, or perhaps she was up all night looking for jobs - or maybe she's just a lazy bint who is bleeding us dry!!

I always think one should make some minimal effort to look presentable, but I appreciate that some people think the pyjamas look is fine.

She could be looking for night shift work.

if any of my female family members or friends ever went outside the house in their pajamas i would kick the s'hit out of them.

    that is all.

If it was becasue she was too lazy to get dressed, yes it would have annoyed me.

If it was becasue she was prt of the PJ Parade, then yes it would have annoyed.

FFS... It's bad enough that they're going to the fu*king shop in their PJs at 4 in the afternoon. But signing on? What's next? "Sorry I missed me signin' on, I was a bit hungover from the Dutch Gold and Bud, you know how it is yourself like!".

Most people like that aren't a case of "upset and not taking care of themselves", it's something they do from when they get to the age of 13/14 and never change out of their uniform, then that changes into never changing their PJs on the weekend to go out and then it's PJs 24/7.

She was auditioning for the upcoming movie called "The Slag In the Striped Pajamas".

Jesus, if you're willing to do that to your female family members outside the house I dread to think what is going on in doors at bedtime.

I wonder if the people who wear PJs out and about are actually wearing the same stuff they slept in or buy PJs specifically to wear them outside.

If I had to guess I'd bet that they specifically buy them. If that's the case then it isn't laziness but just a really weird fashion trend.

It's not really a case of them sleeping in them and then wearing them all day. It's just that they're considered "house attire", different from what you'd sleep in. Kind of like wearing a housecoat instead of a jumper inside if it's cold. Except nobody told the fu*king muppets not to wear PJs 24/7.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

Some people see it as a badge of honor being on the dole, and an opportunity to show off the latest fashions.

Something's just come to mind now. If women get away with wearing their pajamas outside can I go around in boxers?

Feic it, I need milk anyway... /rips trousers off

The fact is there is lazy scumbags out there who not only couldn't be arsed getting dressed to sign on but have no intention of ever getting a job.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

Anybody who does that is a disgusting, lazy bastard and there is no excuse for it. How they find it hard to spend literally 2 minutes throwing on some clothes when they get out of bed just baffles me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,543 ✭✭✭JerryHandbag

I reckon its just a fetish thats got outta hand. They'll be wearin nappies next.

    Durty feckers.

Being on the dole myself, I never got the idea of just... not trying when you go out. I mean, yeah sure, I could spend all day in my PJs (or rather tracksuit bottoms just for lounging around in)... but the fu*k would I walk around town in them. I might stroll to the shop at night if I'm feeling a bit lazy but that's it.

Anyone that tries to equate it with being down from being on the dole needs to learn the difference between not taking care of yourself and just being a lazy ****.

Yeah ok but could ya see her nipples through them or were they the thick cotton ones...

What annoys me is people coming in to sign on looking remarkably like they just popped out from the building site for a few minutes. Unless they too have weird fashion sense which requires safety boots, work pants etc covered in plaster, paint and the like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,134 ✭✭✭Lux23

Im surprised she wasn't thrown out, some welfare offices have signs saying no sleepwear or no pyjamas.

You do know they are most likely builders on a 3 day week just bringing in their slips?

A lot more acceptable than some lazy scumbag in her **** stained pyjamas.

maybe they were doing some work at home what is your idea of dress code for siging on. not all people are sitting on there arse. must be nice looking down on people from up there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,941 ✭✭✭thebigbiffo

tbh, i'm just looking forward to the natural progression of this where women will be heading out in lingerie.

even skobes might look decent in a nice corset, suspenders, fishnets and killer heels...

    Let's not do this, please.

His/her point was they're signing on and it just looks like they took a quick five minutes from their job to sign on.

She's probably doing one of those unpaid work placements where you test beds for sleepability.
    joe stodge wrote: »

I'm not sure. As someone who worries way too much about everything, sometimes I actually admire the "If you have a problem with my slippers, then fuck you." attitude. It must be a very liberating state of mind.
On the other hand it's very cheeky and I can see why people are upset by it.

if you're bringing in slips when wearing work gear thats grand, but to actually sign on once a month in work gear is kind of obvious!

In fairness, you tend to hear the following "I couldn't be arsed looking for work" in the dole queue and nobody cares.

That is a terrible written article. The writing is all over the place, the journalist trying and failing to imitate James Joyce.

Was tough going to read that.
