    Hi all,

    can anyone tell me the best way to get a diagnosis for this condition. Is there a doctor on the Dublin southside who specialises?

    And maybe can anyone tell me, having been diagnosed, has it changed their life in any way!

    Thanks.

    http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/adhd/l/bl_adhd_quiz.htm

    heres a good test, i have most if not all of these symptoms (minus the hyperactivity which dissapates mostly in adulthood) which occur often/ very often,..i dont reely feel the need for a doc to be diagnosed, tryin to keep exercising and eating healthy wit tuna often and/or cod liver oil helps with the brain connectors,.. is it urself who thinks they have adhd or somebody else?

    Thanks for that Padz;

    Yes it's myself. My mother always maintains that I had this growing up in the early 70's but it was never know then.

    I myself have seen certain symptoms in adult life that may be Adult ADHD like poor concentration; excessive talking; very impulsive along with other symptoms.

    I feel that it's adversely affecting my life in a number of areas that may benefit diagnosis and treatment.

    your best option is t start with your GP and take it from there.

    they will know who to refer you to.

    (plus, we dont allow recommendations to be made on this forum)

    I understand. Thank you and I will go to a GP.

    Can anyone though tell me how they have gotten on with late diagnosis and treatment and how this has positively affected their lives or changed them from their anteADHD. PM me if you prefer.

    Appeciate all.

    i wouldnt agree with this theres plenty of information out there online & in libraries, also there are many therapys out there that wouldnt involve going to a gp, ...for the op check out the book 'driven to distraction' written by a dr who has add himself, i manged to get the audiobook very easy to get thru that way (being an adder audiobooks r great, usually have a few goin at a time lol), plus lots of reading info online and helpful forums too

    well the op asked about seeing a specialist and going to a gp is the best way to organise that.

    some online sites are grand but others are not reputable and can be populated with people pushing a certain agenda.

    online diagnosis of anything is notoriously unreliable and potentially dangerous in certain cases.
