Sky multiroom wireless phone extender and UPC phone

I currently use two wireless phone extenders for multiroom sky with a standard telephone landline.

I am moving to UPC for broadband and am considering their phone as well.

Has anyone experience of or know if these wireless phone extenders will work with the UPC phone setup?

    Thanks

I couldn't get a sky box to dial out over a upc phone line before, and that was directly into the upc box. Maybe just me though..

There seem to be people on boards who have got sky to work with UPC using ordinary phone line connection (could not see any mention of wireless phone extenders unfortunately)

I contacted SKY support the other day....but no response yet.:(

It seems to be hit or miss, some people on here have reported success stories while others haven't.
I've never had success with a call back over upc, but have managed it with digi web modems the odd time.
Could you get the UPC in for a trial, cooling off period and see if it works?

Sky will work over UPC only if it is taken out of Phone 1 of the router, it will also only work on wired systems as in major towns and cities, it will not work over the square mesh dishes they use in the country

I have tried this countless times in Limerick and could never ever ever get it to work...

There have been queries about landline providers and their success rates for “calling back”. We have put together a list of common telephone providers and rated their likelihood to complete a successful callback which we feel would be helpful to you in determining a customer’s eligibility for Multiroom.

    Telephone Provider
    Call back success rate
    Eircom fixed line
    Successful
    UPC
Successful if connected from output 1 on router
    Vodafone
Successful but can require numerous attempts
    Smart
    Considerable issues with call backs
    Digiweb
    Considerable issues with call backs
    Imagine/WiMax
Success depends on modem signal strength – requires 2 bars or more
    Magnet
    Unsuccessful call backs

Please ensure that you ask your potential Multiroom customer which landline provider they currently use and advise clearly if it may present a challenge.

Not all the time in wired systems, any I've tried never worked.

maybe it could depend on the router or something, I always thought it didn't work over UPC but tried it a few times and worked 9 out of 10 times

whats Sky's position on the dodgy phone connections if they can't get a call back?

They'll usually ring to see what the problem is, if they can't fix it over the phone thay normally send out an engineer for a service call to ensure a call back can be recieved

Or (1)send out (if you're lucky), a nicely worded letter "advising" you to make sure your sky box is connected to avail of the best of interactive features.etc..
or (2) just send out nothing and proceed to bill you the full subscription amount backdated from when they first didn't receive a call back.

I decided to contact sky for the definitive answer
however I have somewhat contradictory info from two different sky sources

    (1) Sky Help Forum
    (2) Sky Help Centre (email)

    (1) Sky Help Forum (Ireland forum page) see message 5

"we do not recommend using wireless phone extenders as the call back may or may not go through. Is your service with UPC a true land line or a VOIP service (Internet telephony)?

The call backs should go through on a proper land line but we don't support VOIP lines.

    Dear *********

Thank you for your email about telephone connection issue.

As long as all of your Sky boxes are connected to an active telephone line they should be able to dial back to us. If your line is withheld or ex-directory then you may need a dialling prefix in order for us to recognise your telephone connection. Otherwise there should be no problems with the telephone connection.

I hope this helps with your enquiry.

    Kind regards
