Stamp Duty on LSE

Hi all, I was under the impression that you were charged 0.5% stamp duty when buying shares on the LSE. I have been charged 0.5% on all my trades except one which I got charged 1% on. I have sent in an email to TD waterhouse and am waiting on a reply. Anyone any ideas on why this would hapen? Thanks
