Ouch. It was absolutely lashing when I got out of bed, the rain stopped about five minutes before I set out. Score.

Feckin freezing though, I had to wear my winter rainjacket this morning to keep the heat in.

Tip for anyone with inadequate drying facilities in work. If your shoes get wet in the morning and you can't dry them, take some waterproof socks to wear for the journey home. I hate putting my feet into wet shoes.

Or always pack waterproof overshoes in your bag in case it rains. When it starts, stop put them on and you've constantly dry feet to work and home. simples really.

If your shoes are wet, stuff newspaper into them if you have one to hand.

winter stuff in attic last night. Left skerries and got soaked for 30 mins then it eased off but was so cold. Still shivering 90 mins after my shower.

Stoopid rain and cold. Still get the excuses in for a poor time in Hill climb tonight.

You're the club climber. I'll be expecting a good time.

My commute is about 1 hour and I've been through heavy enough rain to render over shoes useless.

Just back from a spin. Full winter gear on & gloves. Not too much rain but the wind up the hills was strong. You know when you're going downhill in the small ring.

Got the jet to work this morning - literally flew in hardly noticing the rain ...

I think you need new overshoes so and some cling film. I ve been out on 4 hour spins in the rain and had perfectly dry shoes and feet on return.

I'm not wrapping my feet in cling film at 8 in the morning.

Working in KK today, wondered wether to take the car or not, thought of how much I hate driving in the city centre, the painfully slow moving traffic, finding a parking space and paying for that space.

Wimped out today and let the train take the strain

    Three excuses though:

Froze my A$$ off yesterday due to stubbornly sticking with bib-shorts and no overshoes

Knackered after 2hr five a side instead of normal 1hr including 20mins of warm up.

Saving myself for Kare at the weekend

    'hope to HTFU tomorrow

    shouldve used the waterproof gloves.
My gloves are still soaked & fingers were like ice on way in.
wet gloves or no gloves on way home??

If it's raining, wet gloves. If not, no gloves.

Careful. I once microwaved some clothes and burned a hole in them. Didn't take much. IIRC it was a t-shirt, though it may have been underpants.

Yeah, I once set fire to my boxers this way.

I spent the months Jan-Mar completely unbothered by the rain, and now after a few sunny days the slightest sprinkle gets me sticking zip-bags between my shoes and coversocks to keep the hurty rain out.

Clearly I have a leak in my HTFU tank.

Just buy and use sealskinz, and never worry about hurty rain again (they come in white to be Euro-ish)

I use the hand dryer at work to dry off damp stuff before I go home. Hate having a wet bag though, had to put it in my locker which now smells like a wet dog.

I don't mind getting wet, I hate starting wet.

Thank God for this thread....I feel that my sanity is restored somewhat. I've been miserable all day long because of the cycle this morning and I was sure that I had become a complete blouse. It's sunny now but the wind is bound to be blowing the opposite direction so it will be a beyotch again. At least it won't be too wet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,604 ✭✭✭petethedrummer

You're only a blouse if you didn't cycle in it.

Even with three first class excuses like the ones above???;)
