Is today something to do with cows?

Just came back from town.

I was walking along the river, and I saw a group of young whippersnappers running into Temple Bar laughing etc, all dressed up, several of them as cows.

Then a girl pegged it after them shouting at them to stop, dressed as the lower part of the cow.

Grand stuff, this is Dublin after all, I love seeing stuff like this nearly every day.

I keep walking, and I see more people dressed up, again with several cows.

Get to my bus stop, and as I get on, a group of drunken lads pass, chanting...


...with one dressed as a cow.

I'm wondering if there was an internet day I missed, or did a large number of people simply decide - "hey, I'm going to dress as a cow; no one will think of that?".
