Sarah I use the shock absorber brand - they have a running specific sportsbra like this one
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shock-Absorber-B5044-Womens-Run/dp/B00368CL3M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302642353&sr=8-1

or else the level 4/Max like this one
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shock-Absorber-Max-Sports-Bra/dp/B000XKJXN2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1302642353&sr=8-2

I have the second option and I find it great.

My wife had similar problems when training, she picked up some fab bras in Arnotts, they were quite expensive but she said they were well worth it, she also commented on them helping her back also.

Can find out brand and price if you like when she gets home around 11pm.

Me too - am only slightly smaller up top than the OP and this one works great - wore it for the Barcelona marathon last month. It's usually about €40 in shops, but can be found cheaper online and in sales.

OP, I just did a check on amazon on the max level (option 2 on my other post) and with your size the price is 20 Sterling - that isn't half bad considering I think I paid about 40 EUR for mine last year.

Same size as youself OP and someone told me tesco had good high impact sports bras. Bought one last week and does what it says on the tin and 6 euro have a few more pricey ones and I can`t say they are any better.

Shock Absorbers are great, little to no movement when I (attempt to) run and I'd be a little larger that you in the boobage department. The only thing is though, they give me pointy Madonna boobs  Are the ones people have linked above of the pointy variety or are they more natural looking?

No points on the one I have anyway, its' more like a crop top than a bra

Triumph do really good sports bras, but you'll need to buy the more expensive ones. I got a cheaper Triumph sports bra and it was only so - so but then bought an expensive one and it was/is amazing - nothing moves at all (cannot find a specific link to the one I'm thinking of at the moment)! Also, this bra ---> http://www.biggerbras.com/anita-full-figure-plus-size-bras-lingerie-swim/anita-active-wear-series-front-closure-bra-5523-ant-5523.shtml is really good at keeping everything in place, but it does give the "welded to you ribcage" look. Arnotts and Debenhams tend to have a decent selection of sports bras for larger ladies, M&S is ok too. It's prob worth having a browse, trying a few on (I tend to jump up and down in the dressing room to see if there is much movement, although I'm sure other shoppers think I'm a lunatic!) to see if there is anything that suits you and that you like.

Shock Absorbers are the best ones that I've tried. They do a whole range (different "strengths" and styles) and they can be bought cheaper on eBay/Amazon etc than in the shops.

TK Maxx often have Shock Absorbers, but you'd never be guaranteed your size. I got a Nike one in the Christmas sales and don't find it great at all. Looking out for a new one.

The Ray Darcy show on Today FM covered this last week

    http://www.todayfm.com/Shows/Weekdays/Ray-DArcy-Show/Blog/11-04-06/The_Sports_Bra_Test.aspx?ReturnURL=%2fShows%2fWeekdays%2fRay-DArcy-Show%2fBlog.aspx

Can't remember the name of the sports bra they had been talking about but it was available from a store in Galway i think they said.

Maybe someone else will remember the name.

Heatons had the sports max shock absorber bras for €12. (And if you have a student card you get a further 10% off) Debenhams also had one of the shock absorber bras with 70% off (about €14), but sizes were very limited.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 311 ✭✭Straycat

i swear by shock absorber level 4, ebay is the cheapest i use a seller called intimate touch, the postage is also low. you will occasionally get them in limited sizes in tkmaxx, any of the heatons i was in only have the black ones. (great for winter, not so good for summer)

ray darcy show was on about the enell bra, but its shape puts me right off, i wear them for walking and like to wear a v neck/scoop neck t shirt and the shape is waay to high to be covered. (they are also pricey with ebay being your cheapest bet here also)

i would also like to put down not to scrimp on proper support for excercise, tesco etc may do sports bras but if they are not supporting you continously and correctly you will be very sorry in time.

Gonna get me a Shock Absorber me thinks....have tried Reebok and Nike and after a few days in the gym I was in bits!

I got Freya sports bras from Bravissimo last year and they're brilliant for big boobs. No bouncing even when running or spinning. Thanks to whoever posted about getting bras from ebay, just had a look and they're nearly £5 cheaper there from proper business sellers (don't like the thought of buying bras from a personal seller!)
