    Review

A young boy confined to bed with the flu is less than thrilled when his grandfather (Peter Falk) arrives to read him the story of The Princess Bride. It tells the adventures of Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in the world, and Westley, the man she loves in the fairy-tale kingdom of Florin. When Buttercup is kidnapped, Westley has to overcome some pretty tough obstacles if he is to rescue her from the clutches of three kidnappers - scaling the cliffs of insanity, battling rodents of unusual size, facing tortue in the Pit of Despair...True love has never been a snap.

Already own this, and have been brainwashing my 7 year old of its merits, she loves it, although not totally sure she gets it all!

Great line from the great Peter Falk "When I was your age, television was called books.”

    Inconceivable

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

What a movie! Converted the kids to it years ago. Love it!

Showed it to my kids last summer, I don't think they enjoyed it as much as I did !!!!
There's not enough explosions in it for them !!!

    Greatest movie ever made.

I have the vanilla one that came out years ago. It would be worth buying again at that price for the Rob Reiner commentary alone. Cheers Basq

Edit: Was on holidays last year. Waiting in the train station in Washington. Wi-fi on, got an E-mail so my phone goes "inconcievable". Guy a few seats over with his iPhone says: "Did ..... did your phone just say inconcievable?..... F*ck this phone"

Cheers OP, picked this up, one of my all time favourite films.

For lovers of the film, I found the book really enjoyable, except that people look at you funny becuase you cant help but do the voices.

Shame it's not the 20th anniversary version with the awesome upside-downy cover:( (that seems to be a region 1 only release)

  • Remember watching this on TV on RTE around Christmas during school holidays! Ahh the nostalgia! :) Also the theme song by Mark Knopfler "Storybook Love" is quite catchy.

This is another movie that reminds me of my sister, used to watch this with her over and over, haven't watched it since she died, I've now ordered it and am going to introduce Mrs. Clareman to the glory of the dreaded pirate Wesley
